When you start to study ancient history and then you open your ears and start hearing what Jesus had to say, you'll find out from ancient history three groups of people occupying Jerusalem at that time. One of the groups was called the Essenes. The second one was called the Seducees, and the third one was called the Pharisees. Jesus said about the Pharisees, they are the ones who are sitting in Moses' chair. Then he couldn't have been one of them, could he?
Seducees' beliefs were very similar to those of liberals. There is nothing after death, and you have to get whatever you can in this life. Jesus couldn't have been one of them either, logically looking.
Then we're left with the last group of people, the so-called Essenes who travelled from village to village, helped the poor, fed the hungry, and provided medical care for poor people. I guess, when you go through history and take a good look, Jesus appears to be an Essene. That means, definitely not a liberal or a conservative.

I don't think it's clear cut to portray Jesus as either a liberal or a conservative. Some of the things he commanded, particularly of his followers, were highly socialistic (giving all your money to the poor or to the church, to store up your treasures in Heaven rather than on Earth, to choose between God and riches, etc.) The Catholics, in particular, lean towards this type of lifestyle.
OTOH, Jesus comes across to me as a moral conservative but not a legalist (which is what the Jews of His day expected Him to be). I would expect Him to abhor abortion and the rampant sexuality found in America and most western countries but I would also expect Him to condemn those who judge harshly without looking toward their own sins and flaws.
It would be corny as well as wrong to portray Jesus as a "compassionate conservative" although His message is actually one of compassion and scarifice mixed with conservative social values.

I know a girl that gets food stamps and a check every month from the government because she decided to have two children out of wedlock. She eats steak and shrimp a couple times a week and she is saving up for a trip to Disney World. The Bible said that if you don't work, you don't eat. Amen.

Yeah, we monopolize the world's wealth, yet for years and years the richest people in the world were the sheiks and sultans and all their oil money.

And Jesus said, one time, you without guilt shall cast the first stone.
It is not important what the lady does. I've learned that. My father goes to the park sometimes and puts some change in his pockets to be able to give it to someone who asks him. His friends very often say, you're giving the people money and they're going to get alcohol with it. His answer is always the same, I am not the one to judge. I fulfilled my obligation, I was asked to help my fellow man. I did what I could. Whatever they do with the money, after the point where money changes hands, it is none of my business. If on 100 men, one buys food with the money he recieved from me, I am grateful to the Almighty, I was able to help somebody and that is a priviledge.

Was Jesus A Liberal? No. Neither is He a moral-liberal.

First, Bill Maher is a pitiful buffoon. I couldn't care less what he says.
Second, I cannot believe that Jesus would support the cowardly use of big government to confiscate his neighbors' money so that scumbag politicians could use it to buy the votes of society's parasites by giving them "free stuff".

I thought the Essenes were Sun worshippers.

Jesus said we should love our neighbor. He didn't say we should support him."Sell all your belongings, give the proceeds to the poor, and follow me" might be construed as a call to support your neighbor not to mention an anti-capitalist, pro commie message.

Rome already had -- or would soon have -- state distribution of grain to its poor -- a rudimentary welfare state. It would be ironic in the extreme if Christ and Christianity were just a way of providing what had already been in existence or in sight when He came.
Albert Schweitzer claimed that early Christianity was grounded in the expectation of Christ's immanent return. That is something to wrestle with. How one chooses to understand "immanent" and "return" is another question.
