I don't think it's clear cut to portray Jesus as either a liberal or a conservative. Some of the things he commanded, particularly of his followers, were highly socialistic (giving all your money to the poor or to the church, to store up your treasures in Heaven rather than on Earth, to choose between God and riches, etc.) The Catholics, in particular, lean towards this type of lifestyle.

OTOH, Jesus comes across to me as a moral conservative but not a legalist (which is what the Jews of His day expected Him to be). I would expect Him to abhor abortion and the rampant sexuality found in America and most western countries but I would also expect Him to condemn those who judge harshly without looking toward their own sins and flaws.

It would be corny as well as wrong to portray Jesus as a "compassionate conservative" although His message is actually one of compassion and scarifice mixed with conservative social values.

Jesus is a moral absolutist, the definition of a moral conservative. It's not that He follows moral conservatism; rather, that moral conservatives follow him.

I have no doubt that He wants the scourge of abortion to end.

Excuse me?

Please stop misrepresenting God and Christianity.

Big difference between commanding personal charity and government redistributionist schemes. Big, huge difference, and you should know better.
