Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.
take two aspirins and call me in the morning.
when you are sucking on the public tit you think one way, but when you are being usurped into supplying the milk for others you think another way...
Say, I'd advise you to go to visit the young black, brown, and white girls who are pregnant - and let them know you will adopt their babies (if they don't get an abortion) - or that you will support them and guide them, so that their children will become productive adults, just as you do with your own precious son.
Then I'll listen to your values that you wish for everyone else to follow. How many person lives have you touched of young pregnant girls? Please tell me you will visit the pregnancy clinics as soon as possible.
What??????? Libertarianism is based foremost on the non-initation of aggression tenet.
alcohol has the capability to kill bacteria that lives in water and causes diarhea in humans. it was practical to have water and alcoholic beverage as a matter of everyday living for sanitary reasons, especially as more people moved here.
Nice spin.
That is not spin. That's what KC said.
And now you are baiting KC.
Nice spin.
BTW How many posters have you bagged this month?
You mean how many libertarian hating phony conservatives have I chastized for their despicable conduct here at FR? This month, -maybe just a dozen or so. [its been slow]
these are not verax's values -- these are god's laws that have become verax's values. i think that you will find that christians as a whole have more compassion for the downtrodden and spend more of the time and money helping them than other segments of society.
did you know that your posting was '666'. coincidence???
If I say I support the Drug War, and Anti-Homosexual Laws, and Anti-Abortion Laws, then I will get a hundred posts from Libertarians calling me a Taliban and telling me to get the burquas (sp).
I don`t think that your first statement is completely fair. You don`t get compared to the Taliban anytime you post something people disagree with, you get compared to the Taliban when you start talking about legislating according to your own religious convictions. Homosexuality is an obvious example. If two people of the same sex engage in consentual sexual activity behind closed doors, it is no-ones business but their own. If it is abhorrent to God, let them answer for it on their day of judgement. After all, how can what people do behind closed doors affect your personal relationship with God?
Look at it like this. If Jehovah`s Witnesses were in charge of the Government and started legislating against Christmas, Birthdays and blood transfusions, what would you do? You would probably scream bloody murder, as would I. The same principle applies when I see Christians who want to legislate how I live my by their standards.

thanks. once again i learn that i did not have an original thought. but it always sounds more authoritarian when you quote someone. [smile]
I happen to be a child who was adopted from a negleted home along with my sister when I was nine years old...I know all about it.
By the way, what would be your suggestion for putting a stop to life's other myseries? Say, spousal abuse or illiteracy, or disease etc.
And yes...I understand that it's important to do more than just talk.

Sure thing. -- Our plan is, we start with the lawyers, then ----
my relationship with god is independent of what others are doing.
society has laws to protect us from each other. god's laws do the same thing, but with only about 50% proclaiming faith and half of those claiming an active faith, most of us are not following god's laws regarding how to live life.
with respect to homosexuality, it is against god's laws, so it is wrong. if all they did was what they did behind closed doors, it is none of my business as you have said. however, homosexuals want to come out of the closet, have parades proclaiming their life style and inflicting their ways in society. their lifestyle is against god's lifestyle, that being the family as the nuclear unit. it affects society and as such is my business.

ACTUALLY sometimes I think more of me is Libertarian than not. . . . however. . .
It seems to me your argument ASSUMES that there is NO Ultimate Authority; NO perfect law; NO Ultimate standard of morality, no Ultimate Accountability.
Or, you might say--Oh, there is, but I disagree on where to draw the line.
Certainly where to draw the line can be a sticky wicket. But there is some interesting evidence that touches on all this. . . . Crime varies inversely with church attendance--statistics back for 200 years, if I recall accurately, attest to this in every study done on it. Do we legislate church attendance? I don't think that would work, for one. I don't think it would help. I think God looks on the heart as tooooo big a priority.
If you were aware that homosexuality above a miniscule proportion of a population resulted in lack of rain; drought for extended years--would you consider that a harm to others?
If you studied the lives of homosexuals with more or less endless short time stands; high suicide; high depression etc. . . and concluded that homosexuality was not the big thrill some media and other lobbyists made it out to be--and that seduction/recruitment was much higher of minors than heterosexual such was--would you consider it then a harm to others?
If you considered that easy divorce; abortion; welfare excesses; alcoholism etc. undermined the family unit and thereby society resulting in higher crime, higher disease rates, higher violence, higher disregard for human life; higher disregard for commitments, responsibility and higher aversion to doing the right thing in relationships and society--would you consider that a harm to others?
plagerize, why do you think the lord made your eyes?
you don't have to shade your eyes!
just plagerize, plagerize plagerize...
....
but remember to call it 'research'!
ok, ok, ok.... tom lehrer.
Gee I haven't hugged a libertarian today, and I probably won't hug one tomorrow, either. Which is all to the better for them as I'd smother them with my conservatism.
