"OOH! War crimes tribunals! I'm sure those Northern Alliance soldiers are shaking in their boots at the prospect of being held in contempt by some U.N. backed "World Court". "I thought President Bush got the permission of Pakistan to set up a military tribunal to prosecute these guys. A military Tribunal is a heckofalot worse than a UN war cime tribunal.

The last time I looked the U.N. was not a party to this war-- I think this sets a VERY bad precedent. I'm concerned. There is certainly no doubt that a large proportion of states in the U.N. and on the U.N. Security Council are active sponsors of terrorism. This is not good.

You guys are desperately floundering around trying to drum up some bad news, eh?
Just go away and molder in your misery at a tremendous military achievement by the U.S.

30,000 Taliban fighters 30,000?
Perhaps the person reporting these numbers uses the same counting techniques as the New York Times does, when it counts, say, "anti-war protestors" in Union Square. 500 protestors gets blown up to 10,000.
In other words, it could be as few as 1,500.
It's a theory.

This is all a ploy. The Taliban now plan to regroup and destroy Satan Americans from their real, real stronghold.

The Al Qaeda foreigners need to die in battle. The NA seems to try to weed them out.
Afghans can tell who they are by just looking at them.
To: Polybius
That is not necessarily good news. The Al Qaeda foreigners need to die in battle. Every last one of them. Or die in captivity. I'm not picky

The surrender will be carried out under the supervision of the UN. A UN victory is a defeat for the United States.

Foreign 'fighters' with Taliban should be dealt with as mercenaries - I don't think they count under rules of war.
Particularly those cought wearing civilian clothes - outside of Geneva protection.
Finally, at least when I was in, the US had not signed the Geneva convention and no one was planning on digging out the parchment to do so.....but we agreed to abide by it as a reasonable set of groundrules.
In my opinion, the groundrules have changed!
