One B-52 is real exciting to the Northern Alliance. One B-52 collapses the Taliban front line.

Remember Vietnam where they sent so many B-52s at once that they could hardly get out of each other's way.

It's so good to have FR so we can read and learn what is really happening. Why, wasn't it just this last weekend, the US media was telling us we were losing? Thanks UK.

"This is the most successful day so far,"

Apparently, this "commander" and The Telegraph (and the movie-going public) both measure success by the size and number of explosions. Isn't it great that adults are in charge in Washington?

I remember the Iraqis getting awfully rattled by the payload the BUFFs dropped during the Gulf War.

What I find interesting about this article is the statement that "several thousand" US troops are in Uzbekistan. What happened to the lowly "1,000" from the 10th mountain division were told about and that is still reported on CNN? Guess they got some reinforcements, heh.

Exscuse me, but a BUFF can hold a lot more than 15 iron bombs. (the report refers to 15 explosions) see this article and illustrations for the real deal -

There has been great disappointment on the opposition side - and equal relief among the Taliban - that the American front-line raids have so far been relatively restrained. Reports from Taliban-controlled areas suggest that the militia are constantly on the move to avoid being hit.

I think all those Congressmen should keep their traps SHUT! Why should we show our whole hand to those clowns all at one time? Let them get complacent before we go in whole hog! Sounds like their going to be developing some respect for US might in the next few weeks. Who knows, maybe that carpet bombing will also set off some of those mines that have been sitting there for the last few years; fewer that our guys will have to deal with!

"The intensified bombing was apparently in response to criticism from congressmen that America was not making enough use of its military clout"

I think this is so, and it brings up the question:
If Congressmen had not complained how little would the DOD be doing?
What are we paying these guys to do, if not to break things and kill people?

The B-52 Bomber roaring down the runway fully loaded with ordinance With all (8) Eight engines in full water injection is a sight that will be with me for as long as I live. The power that that machine generates on the ground during run up is truly a lifelong experience to have in your hands and will turn Tim The Toolman green with envy!

Doing acceptance checks and final trim checks on that machine is so awe inspiring that I can remember every time I crawled under those wings or sat at the controls. To feel that machine straining on the chocks I can attest to the magnificence of the design and engineering that went into producing this Airborne Platform. The following models that came later on after the "D" model just got stronger and faster. The Old Buff gets my vote and its just as impressive when it pulled up under our KC-135 to get a Drink! Those are real Heroes!; in this War or any War!

"If it continues like this, the front line will collapse and the Taliban can be defeated."

Read this as "After you kill them all, so it's safe us, we'll quit squatting in the dirt and go take their positions."

Can't really blame them though, what with Powell telling them they won't be running things when this is over.

From what I've always heard, if we carpet bombed the front lines day-in and day-out, not only would the terrorist Talibunnies fill their diapers daily, but the Northern Alliance would also develop a severe case of the Reno shuffles. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
