[history]
The Justice Deptartment issued a warning last night that new and imminent terrorist strikes were a likelihood.
Vice President Cheney, in response, was moved back to one of his secure undisclosed locations, where he spent the night.
And President Bush pressed on with plans to attend Game Three of the World Series tonight in Yankee Stadium.

Cheney has been in a secured location for the last 6 weeks, I'm sorry, but this is now new news.
The Baltimore thing is interesting, any other news about that?

They moved him out a couple of times, he hasn't been in a secure location the whole time.

What's the logic in broadcasting the President's plans and Cheney's evacuation from DC?

Wonder why keeping him in a secure location away from Bush hasn't become permanent policy yet? Prudent, not paranoia.
In an unrelated vein, have Ari Fleisher's press conference on in the background, and I am just utterly amazed how anyone can command such Herculean self-composure as to avoid jumping out and totally throttling that sniveling snippy cheesequeen Helen Thomas. Could someone please post one of those cartoons where one can push a button and make a big hand slap her silly?

What's the logic in broadcasting the President's plans and Cheney's evacuation from DC?I've been thinking just that same thing. My supposition is this:
Most attacks lately seem to be focused on the government in DC.
If you were planning a terrorist attack aimed at DC and you suddenly learned the President and V Pres weren't going to be in town, that might "rattle your chain."

This is probably in response to the 'Dirty Nukes' report on FOX that may have come over from the Mexican border.
Radioactivity without detonation could cause a lot of havoc, especially when the border is so lax in Arizona and the World Series coming back there this weekend.

Yeah, maybe that tunnel fire near Camden Yards a few months back was a terrorist act gone wrong (or gone right, for that matter). It's all to easy to make connections where there are none, however. The human brain works that way. But as always, I'm staying vigilant and not discounting anything until I have good reason to.
