PITTSFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Authorities found a cache of bombs and more than 12,000 rounds of ammunition they believe belonged to a survivalist group. They arrested one man and were seeking another.
Also found inside five campers parked in a rural area of western Illinois were bomb-making instruction manuals, black powder, electronic arming devices and a small amount of ammonium nitrate.
Sheriff Paul Petty said investigators found maps with marks on certain areas. Petty would not say which areas were marked, but said investigators do not suspect the group, which calls itself the United Survivalists of America, had plans to attack or bomb anything.
``We believe the site was their compound, or gathering point. We think they were using this property as a command center.''
Petty said investigators believe the group was small and had been unsuccessful in getting others to join.
Petty said the man arrested in Pike County was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He remained in jail Thursday after being ordered held on $50,000 bail, Petty said. He would not identify the suspect
``We don't want any of his associates to hear about this before we have the opportunity to locate them,'' he said.

I have read speculation and some rumors that the government might use this foreigner attack and then try to link it to the domestic patriot movement, Of course they will. They have been doing this for years, and are even justified in many cases. For example,LOTS of the neo-Nazi groups have close ties to neo-Nazi groups in Europe. Don't think the Europeans haven't been using THEIR version of federal agents to infiltrate AND instigate their own groups, either.Remember all the mention of the west German hanging around the neo-Nazi compound with McVeigh? Ever wonder why he was allowed to leave the country and the feds never tried to extradite him back here to testify? Or even admit he existed,as far as that goes? Add 2+2 and tell me what you come up with.
These people/groups are the best friends the statists ever had. If they didn't exist, the statists would have to invent them.

What exactly are they guilty of? I have two 20 lb propane tanks in the back yard. Guess I better get ready for the feds to raid me too.

Ah, ha! The Crime! Certainly the parked campers that didn't have a permit - notice that they have become a "COMPOUND".
I'd say it's time to bring on Janet Reno to toss in some tear gas and shoot some kids, eh?!

Things are getting back to normal. The federal government is back on the trail of Americans again You better read this article again. The authorities were local authorities, you know the sheriff that was probably elected to protect the community.
Sheesh talk about knee jerk reactions.

Authorities found a "cache of bombs" and ...... Other crap aside this is all I see they may have on em. But I have real problems with this new era of reference , text and knowledge of makes ya a criminal. Heck, I'm a felon squared if that's the norm nowadays. All my needs are stored at wally world , lowes, and radio shack etc etc.....and if crapola really hits the fan our enemies will bring all the ordnance we can plunder from their carcases.
I'm the original self sufficent sort of troop. I believe my survival depends on what I have at home , in my vehicles and on my person for me, mine and ours should natural or man made disaster fall upon me. Depend on no one for help and help if you can is my rule.
OH well rant over, Stay Safe !

Pike County, Illinois, is considered the #1 Deer hunting area in the US. Saw a TV show recently where Roger Clemens(NY Yankee pitcher) shot a deer. Also, more and more land there is being rented out for private hunting by out-of-staters. This has caused complaints by Illinois deer hunters.

Im trying to fiqure out why our government wastes no time in killing it's own citizens. But when people from another country kill aprox 7000 people in the US of A they seem to be taking there good old time!
Our government thinks they are macho men when killing US citizens but when it comes to doing something about the WTC they seem to be a scared little kid!!!!!!!!!!

The following are bombs: A can of kerosene for your heater, a can of gasoline for your lawn mower, a can of gas oil mix for your weed eater or chain saw, a bag of fertilizer for your garden or to melt ice off a sidewalk, a stash of fireworks for the 4th of July or New Years eve, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a can of pant thinner, a can of alcohol for a camping stove or to mix shellac, a can of black powder for your muzzel loading deer rifle. The list can go on and on.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater...confidence than
an armed man. - Thomas Jefferson

For a lot of my friends, having 12,000 rounds means it's time to reload some more ammo.
