Recall that it took about six months to set up Desert Storm.

Yes, I know it well. But the difference is we were up against an entrenched enemy. Here they're dispersing more and more with every passing day.

Liberals are so funny when they are out of power. Even 60% liberals, as your profile says. I won't tell you what I think the other 40% really is.

Relax, it's just a joke. Even us lefties have a sense of humor.

The blood of these innocents is on their hands as well as the terrorists.

Agreed, I nearly said the same thing.

Don't forget the overwhelmingly leftist faculties at the U.S. universities attended by the terrorists. Yup, and as skeeter says, "The blood of these innocents is on their hands as well as the terrorists."

I agree. Time to dust off some off the old style atom bombs of the Hiroshima range and take out a few hundred thousand. Not to destroy the entire nation just to remind people that we have used nukes in anger before and to put the fear of our God in them. BTW: The reason we didn't kill Saddam during D.S was the Christian belif in redemption. We wanted to believe that Saddam would change his evil ways. We see that we were wrong now.

Anyone who desires to turn this into a West vs. Islam conflict should also realize that we can target Mecca for instaneous destruction.

The four pillars of Islam require: fasting, prayers, Zakat (alms-giving) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). Let future Muslims Hajj to a glassy radioactive crater in the desert...

by francisandbeans:

Me thinks the author has donned some spectacles with a rosy hue.

Don't underestimate bin Laden. Don't underestimate the willingness of Arabs to force this into a West Vs. Islam conflict. Don't underestimate the willingnedd of some Israelis to turn this into a Wesy vs. Islam conflict. Don't underestimate anyone...including friends and so-called allies. We are knee deep in the thornbush right now and the last thing we need to do is assume victory. 5 Posted on 09/27/2001 07:03:09 PDT by francisandbeans

"As our editor pointed out at a recent seminar in Australia, being narrowly focused to the exclusion of all else is part of the terrorists’ Achilles heel."

HEY!!! I said that 6 months ago!!!!

So, what is your take on this? Seriously, do a little monday morning quarterbacking for us, so we can get an idea what a self proclaimed "leftie" thinks should have been done under the circumstances.

I'm not a lefty but I'll say this.... we told the world that terrorists and those that harbor them were history. The Taliban should be a memory now.

Has Bush outfoxed Bin Laden? Nope.

Hello quidam, is that you? (I mean the author, not the poster.) The article reminds me of our own quidam's weighty interpretations of Ken Starr's inaction (or puzzling moves for that matter) during the glory days of the Whitewater investigations. I certainly hope the author is right, but I tend to think that too little is now known to us to reach any conclusions about Bush's team's strategy.

One thing for sure though. These turbaned monkeys are as ignorant of the ways of the West as, well, turbaned monkey. The best comparison that comes to mind would be our home grown "idealists", the SLA and the Weathermen. 'Naive fools' would be the most generous term to describe them. Dangerous and naive.

We should all be singing the praises of one who will go down in history as one of our great Presidents. He is surprising even the most hardened socialists with his courageous calm and down home intellect. He truely is a Uniter.

The entire middle east is shaking in their sandals as the supporting nations of terrorism are slowly exposed to the civilized world. George W has shown compassion, passionate patriotism, sensitivity and leadership while comforting a nation stung sharply by senseless mmass murder. He is also sending a strong message to the world. That America is still the greatest Nation on earth. That we can survive and overcome. And woe is any Nation that dare rise up against freedom and democracy. Go GWB!!!

...Hanoi Jane, meet Kabul Jesse.

LOL! Yeah, maybe it won't hurt him with the 'hate whitey' crowd, but it will certainly diminish him in the eyes of the average 'Joe and Jane' on the street. And if the Taliban forces keep up their 'press gangs' and violence against the Afghani people simply trying to get the hell out of the way, I think old Jesse will get connected with the Taliban in the most negative way possible... Well, I can dream, can't I?
