'Don't ask me to kill ... or to die'

I am a 19-year-old college student. I joined the Oregon National Guard two months before I turned 18.

I write about the possibility of war. I am still in shock about everything that has happened. I want the people responsible to pay for their crimes.

And those are the only people who should pay.

If we go to war, it will be my generation that will have to go. America will ask us to give up our dreams and to die for our country. We will be asked to leave our loved ones, to leave our educations and to die alongside our brothers, sisters and friends.

Please don't ask us to do this. I am not afraid to defend my country, but I am afraid for my country. Enough people have died already. Please don't ask me to kill others or to die myself in the name of revenge.

Actually she lives in Pedelton, on the East side of Oregon, and her attitude is amazing to me.

The problem with this generation is that they think the military is a SAFE career. Well, sorry, the military is not a slush fund for college, if you join the military, you must be ready and willing, and able to kill or be killed. This is the life of a soldier, and if you can't handle it, find another way to fund your college education.

The job of the military is to kill and break things, this is thier job, not to feed people, not to catch drug smugglers, not to sit behind a desk and write up paperwork, although some do, but to DESTROY the enemies of the US. Again, if you are not willing to do that, find another way to finance your college education!!

I have no problem with women in the military. I do have a problem with women in combat. We haven't come a long-way-baby as a nation when we put men in foxholes and submarines with women - just to prove a point. We only jeopardize the integrity of the fighting forces.

Hmmm...something odd here. She claims to be with the Oregon National Guard and yet next to her rank it says Pendleton. Is there a Pendleton in Oregon as well as California?

With these thoughts, this little twit has no right to be in any branch of the military.

The only reason her generation has its' Freedom is because of previous generations who DID give up their dreams and died for our country. They left their loved ones, left their educations and died alongside their brothers, sisters and friends.

Without taking anyting away from that contribution, I think there must have been some massive parenting failure on the part of what Tom Brokaw calls the Greatest Generation, or else it couldn't have produced this sniveling, selfish excuse for a "soldier."
