The only reason her generation has its' Freedom is because of previous generations who DID give up their dreams and died for our country. They left their loved ones, left their educations and died alongside their brothers, sisters and friends.

Without taking anyting away from that contribution, I think there must have been some massive parenting failure on the part of what Tom Brokaw calls the Greatest Generation, or else it couldn't have produced this sniveling, selfish excuse for a "soldier."

The problem with the "Greatest Generation" concept re the wonderful U.S. victories in WWII lies in not understanding that the people who ran things - the O6s and above - were from the previous generation. When the guys who took their disciplined command decisions, at the field grade officer and sergeant/private levels, came home, they thought it was mainly them who were most responsible for the successes, and raised a bunch of boomer brats - I can say that cuz I was one.
