WASHINGTON (AP) — A bipartisan group of six senators on Sunday called for President Donald Trump’s administration to “immediately reverse course” on a plan to purchase diesel from Russia as part of an effort to lower high fuel prices.
Trump shocked lawmakers when he announced on social media Friday that he struck a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call. He said Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global market, followed by an additional 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tons “immediately thereafter.” Russia will deliver an additional 3 million tons “within a short period of time” after that, he wrote.
Four Republican senators and two Democratic senators signed onto the statement released Sunday in protesting the deal. They said the administration failed to consult with Congress or submit any explanation to justify its decision as required by statute.

Oh. Yeah. These characters are just trying to keep Trump on a legitimate path.
And what about all of the oil that is supposed to be flowing from Venezuela?
And what about all of the oil that is supposed to be flowing from Venezuela?
President Trump and its defenders frame the diesel deal as a pragmatic emergency measure designed to lower soaring fuel costs quickly for American truckers, farmers, ranchers, and everyday drivers.
The administration has attempted to use the framework alongside a proposed “energy ceasefire” intended to halt cross-border strikes on energy and power infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine.
Proponents argue that injecting more refined product into the global marketplace helps relieve overall supply tightness caused by broader Middle East conflicts.
Overall, while the White House defends it as a necessary step to slash domestic energy prices.
Mainstream economists and foreign policy critics view it as strategically damaging to Western sanctions and Ukraine’s defense.
And the latter is bad.....how?
And what about all of the oil that is supposed to be flowing from Venezuela?
..... I believe you are referring to the 2022 statutory ban on Russian energy imports. However, under presidential enforcement The administration has temporarily lifted energy restrictions in order to facilitate the import of fuel products into the US.
