GETTING UNDERWAY

A young Ensign, who had just completed his first overseas deployment, was given the opportunity to "show his stuff" by getting his ship underway. As he yelled out commands with great confidence, sailors were running everywhere. In no time, the ship came out of the channel, headed for home. It was accomplished so well that he set a new record for getting a destroyer underway.

He wasn't surprised when a seaman approached him with a message from his CO...he WAS surprised to find that it was a radio message. He was even more surprised as he read, "Bravo Zulu upon completing your underway preparation exercise according to the book and with amazing speed. In your haste, however, you have overlooked one of the unwritten rules...always make sure the CO is aboard before getting underway".

In our haste to "get underway" daily in this vast ocean that we call "life", let us remember to make sure that God is aboard. It is He who will guide and direct us safely through the storms and rough seas!

It must be one of those days the weather is different on the opposite sides of town. It’s breezy out by the airports but not too bad. You must be getting winds coming down off the mountains today as a system moves through from the Gulf of Alaska. ore tree trash to be picked up and leaves to sweep off the deck.

It got a little breezy here this morning and had a little rain but nothing like they predicted we’d have. Just an ugly, chilly day.

Just went out to feed the ducks, but they seem to have vacated to somewhere else.

Half of my deck is almost clear...the other half has ALL the leaves blown up against the sliding door. I got some of them swept off as the wind tried to blow them back.

Crazy how calm it is at LH while blustery at your place. Gotta wonder what the folks up in Hillside are dealing with. Eeek!
