Folks, this is looking to me like the worst Freeathon ever. No credit cards is no doubt the issue, but even an old codger like me can figure out PayPal, at least figure it out well enough for donating to FR.

Let's get some activity going!

Paypal refuses to work for me, claiming my account has been cancelled due to my not having used it in over three years.

I have NEVER had a PayPal account.

I will send a check to the P.O. Box in Fresno, but many will not.

To the staff at FR: PLEASE find a way to allow direct CC/DC payments again. FR is a lifeline for many of us, and will become ever moreso with time.

Looks like all you need to do is click on the PayPal link and select donate by CC or debit. I don’t believe you need an PP account for that.

A check will do. Preferably a generous one. But the staff are very busy, and the check may not clear for a while (i.e. end of Freepathon).

You are welcome. It is not clear that you can donate by CC with PP unless you click on the link. Seems to me FR could add a line saying donate by CC on PayPal and no PP account is needed.

Zelle works like a charm for me. So easy even I could do it. Speaking of old codgers. I’d say easier than paypal. Could just be me. 😉

Zelle works like a charm for me.

I have accounts with 2 different CUs. Neither one does Zelle. Personally, I prefer to use CC's for online transactions or send snail mail..

There is no argument that can be made that will make me open up a new avenue for fraud and theft. If FR cannot accept the primary means of payment in America, I’m out.

I’ve been here forever, and I greatly value this place. But I protect my financial assets very carefully, and will not vary, even for FR.

Much less people using FR these days. I have my page set to 50 replies. The time span for that is 11 minutes. Not long ago it was about 3 minutes on a normal day and less than that for breaking news story.

You can’t save a site with this technology and our demographics. More FReepers are dead than alive. There is no “Like” button. Either you refresh your user base or die.
