The exit poll of today election's in Sweden showed the opposition parties with a bit of a lead. Now, with 50 percent of the vote counted, it's a dead heat between the ruling right of center coalition and the opposition parties.

Ties are statistically rare. Odd to have so many in elections. If only there were some simple explanation??

At least I am pretty sure Sweden has legacy trustworthy voting system unlike many other countries.

or at least that is what I remembered. so I asked AI

Mail-in voting in Sweden is restricted to specific circumstances, such as for voters who are outside the country or aboard a ship in foreign waters during the election period

Sweden utilizes manual counting processes at multiple administrative levels to verify outcomes. Initial counts are conducted by bipartisan panels at local polling stations, followed by a secondary verification and recounting process handled by the Regional County Administrative Boards

The counting process in Sweden is open to public observation by law, allowing citizens and observers to be present during the manual tally. Because the foundational records consist of physical paper, the system maintains a tangible audit trail independent of digital reporting infrastructure.

SWEDISH ELECTION ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช

74% of votes have now been counted.

The left wing bloc has 49.2%
The right wing bloc has 49.2%

It's clear that the right is outperforming the exit polls significantly.

At this time, with more than 80% of the vote counted, the two coalitions are very, very close. It looks the result will not be known until Wednesday when there is a supplemental count of late-arriving early votes.
