According to footage posted by Amy Sousa, a staff member asked Sousa and her acquaintances to leave The Sports Bra, a women’s sports bar in Northeast Portland.
“There are people that are in here that are uncomfortable with those shirts, and so I’m asking y’all to leave,” the staff member said to the group in the video.
The staff member continued, “If I have to call authorities to get you all removed, I will,” citing “I’ve had complaints by customers already.”
A group member responded, saying there was “nothing wrong with these shirts.”
Sousa took to X to post the confrontation, stating they were “kicked out” of the bar.
Sousa told Storyful the group of five left the bar, including a man wearing a “plain shirt with no message.”
According to a statement issued by The Sports Bra on Instagram, the group was given the choice to either cover the anti-trans messaging or leave.
“At The Sports Bra, our mission is simple: support, promote, and empower ALL girls and women in sports,” said Sports Bra officials. “To be clear: trans girls are girls, and trans women are women.”
That same day, Sousa and seven others were removed from a Portland Thorns match at Providence Park. According to FOX News, security cited the group for an infraction of the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Code of Conduct.
Sousa’s t-shirt comes from XX-XY Athletics, a company that says it is “unapologetic” and “here to protect women’s sports and spaces,” according to its website’s mission statement.
“For women to compete safely and fairly, women’s sports need to remain female,” the company said. “Sex matters.”
Providence Park, in line with Major League Soccer (MLS) Fan Code of Conduct states, “We are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable event-day experience for all fans visiting our stadium and facilities.”
The Providence Park website also asks, “If someone interferes with your enjoyment of a game, please immediately contact a Guest Services Representative in your area for assistance.”
Sousa continued on X, saying “The goal is to use images and spectacle as a tool for political persuasion, consciousness-raising, protest, and social change.” Sousa also posted, “We didn’t do anything … It’s insane!”

Unless they're actual one hundred percent real women or girls.
I would prefer knowing whether or not I’m welcome in a restaurant or bar. People that crazy wouldn’t think twice about spitting in my drink or food. The kitchen is probably infested with rodents and roaches anyway.

No, they're not, but I think the owner of a business should be able to choose with whom they do business. I do wonder though if the bar waited until the group had purchased and paid for drinks?

I haven’t been in a BAR-bar in so long, I wouldn’t know what is typical for a drink. At a local live act restaurant on Telegraph Road in Berkeley, Ca. I used to enjoy a Double Tequila Sunrise. Back then, I took BART trains or a bus everywhere. I never cared for beer after the first three sips. It was so long ago, there was a Tower-Records Store and a Blockbusters in that city.
Portland is an islamocommie, woke shithole in the wall now……not resembling it’s former self in any way shape or form. It used to be a great place to shop and had a lot of good restaurants like Trader Vic’s, Bush Gardens and the Kon Tiki.
It’s been totally destroyed by the islamocommies…..restaurants, malls and nice department stores are long gone.
We haven’t been there for years.

Seriously though, insisting mentally ill men are women and vice versa is reason enough not to support an establishment with your business. Try paying a tab with Monopoly money and insist that that's real, too. LOL.
I propose clearing up the whole restroom problem by simply replacing the men and women words or symbols with 'XY' on the men's room and 'XX' on the women's. If that doesn't qualify as "settled science" nothing does.
