Aurora police are investigating after a large group of people rushed into a grocery store and restaurant, then stole items and vandalized property.
This happened after hundreds of teens gathered to see social media influencers in a parking lot, according to a worker at a nearby business and social media posts.
Police said there were as many as 500 people, from 14 years old to 17 years old, in the parking lot and declared it an unlawful assembly.
The Aurora Police Department told FOX31 that officers were called to the area of East 6th Avenue and Peoria Street around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Soon, additional officers were called to help get the crowd under control.
When the crowd grew at the shopping center in Aurora on Sunday, businesses began to worry. One worker, who asked to remain anonymous, shared that the crowd began gathering early in the morning.
“It was like a nightmare. Everybody was littering over here. You know we have a lot of customers. But yesterday we did not have a lot of customers … it was like a lot of people. And I talked to security and they said yeah we are taking care of it. But obviously not,” the worker said.
Another worker described the crowd as “loud” and “screaming.”
Aurora police said officers ordered the crowd to disperse, but some groups entered nearby businesses, including a Burger King and King Soopers.
In social media posts, people can be seen running through the aisles of the grocery store and can also be seen on tables inside the restaurant.
FOX31 was unable to secure permission to use the videos posted on social media showing the incident; however, police reported that property was vandalized and stolen.

I wonder when was last time such an order was peacefully obeyed. Certainly not in the last 20 years.
Side story: An amusement park near me has an 11 PM closing time. Three announcements are made. Depending on the clientele, sometimes only the last one is heeded.
10:30 - Park closes in 30 minutes.
10:45 - Park closes in 15 minutes.
11:00 - The park is now closed. We will release the dogs in 5 minutes.
Of course there are no dogs. Yet the message works every time.
