Only 8 of 15! Harder than expected!

Don’t feel bad. I did worse. 7 / 15.
Furthering my earlier post and article (links below), I ran into Frank this weekend:
******
Epilogue further:
I found Frank yesterday in Scapoose, OR.
Frank is 102 and doing great. Heโs vertical, hears okay, his brain is functioning, he can get up into my Toyota Tacoma all by himself. We went out for his daily beer at the bar where his family hangs out. Frank is done hunting. But he still exercises each day for strength (5 pound weights) and flexibility (โeach joint and muscle as far as it can goโ), and goes on a two mile walk.
Frank told me three great WWII stories:
1) His submarine the USS Redfin and four others mapped the landmines of Tokyo Harbor toward the end of the war, โto get ready for the biggest invasion in the history of manโ.
2) While the skipper was off the bridge, someone yelled โFull Reverse!!!โ Frank was in charge of the left engine and screw, and his buddy was in charge of the right. They both immediately turned off the electric power, shifted into reverse and applied full power in seconds. This saved the boat from running head first into a mine, saving the whole crew. Skipper was pleased they didnโt wait for his command, and gave them a shipboard award.
3) While in Tokyo Harbor, they went up to periscope depth and got radio signals that Nagasaki and Hiroshima had been nuked, and that the war was over. So they picked their way out of the mined harbor that they had mapped. Along the exit route they ran into a returning Jap sub. Not knowing whether the Jap had got the news that the war was over, they were called to battle stations and torpedoes were ready to fire. If the Jap sub fired, they would hear it and fire too, and both ships would be dead. They and the Jap sub carefully passed each other. Apparently, they had heard the news.
I have great pictures (sent to Dean in email) of Frank in front of his RV, showing off his bicep, drinking a beer, his discharge and other submariner calling cards.
So hereโs to Mr. Reisinger, still alive and kicking!
BE FRANK!!!
