THE KEY TO FAILURE

I recently read a devotion in God's Little Devotional Book for Women, which really touched my life. This book was copyrighted in 1996 by Honor Books, Inc. in Tulsa Oklahoma. The story on pages 98 and 99 tells of a painter who wanted to produce one work which would please everyone. So she painted a picture, and hung it in the public marketplace. She posted directions for people to mark the places they did not like with a small paint brush. She was surprised when she returned to find her picture was just a blob.

So, the next day, she took another copy of the painting and asked people to mark the places they liked. By the afternoon, the picture was exactly the same blob. The artist concluded, "I now believe the best way to please one-half of the world is not to mind what the other half thinks or says."

People always have an opinion about what we say or do, and the key to failure is to try to please everyone. The key to success, on the other hand, is to live according to God's opinions...those spelled out in the Bible. Then we will not fret over the opinions of others.

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other." (Matthew 6:24)

It was pretty tasty here today. The first storm came through and cooled things off temporarily but when the sun came back out. UGH! Sauna. It was already dark when the second storm came through so it didn’t change the temp much. Just came in from checking the gauge and it still pretty steamy.

It’s been gorgeous up there all day. I’d love to have your weather here. Perfect temps and the breeze looks inviting as well. It should keep you comfy when you do head out to the deck.

I haven’t done much today but did do a little housework. Tomorrow, I have a couple of errands to run. We have more chances for rain and I hope it’s like today. Plenty of dry time in between showers.

Hey there, radu!

Not really, but by naptime I crashed and slept hard. It was nice. And the weather was much nicer. A high of 90 rather than 101. I even sat outside for a while this afternoon after washing my hair to let it dry faster so I could nap without a soggy pillow. ugh.

How was your day? Did you have to get out? It didn’t look that hot, but yikes! That humidity level!

Weather “much nicer” is definitely relative. 90 might be nicer than 100 but it still isn’t nice in my mind. LOL That’s what I woke up to this afternoon. Fortunately, I had no plans to go anywhere. Errands tomorrow though.

Had a nice thunderstorm this afternoon with lightning overhead but I got no lightning pics. It all stayed up in the clouds, darn it. I was on the front porch with the camera, though, hoping for at least one good bolt or streak.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
