The Supreme Court said Tuesday that it will consider whether there is a Second Amendment right to possess AR-15s and similar rifles, setting up the court’s latest potential expansion of gun rights.

The issue will be argued in the next term, which starts in October, with a decision expected by July 2027.

The court has expanded gun rights in recent years and just backed those rights in multiple rulings this term.

With Tuesday’s decision to review the matter in two consolidated cases from Illinois and Connecticut, Kavanaugh’s statement is coming to fruition. It takes four justices to grant review.

Given SCOTUS' prior cases, good chance for RTKBA here.

It’s not “...an expansion of gun rights...”

It’s removing illegitimate restrictions on gun rights...

it would not be any “expansion of gun rights”

it would at most be a small step forward towards the court recognizing American citizens’ inaliable rights as recognized (not granted) by the US Constitution’s Bill of Rights

While real conservatives would support a strategic litigation view, the reactionary activists think they have the votes on the court.

Sadly, they thought we had the votes on the court to repeal birth citizenship too.

It’s always interesting to read how “inalienable rights” aren’t really inalienable if they apply to non-citizens. That was never how the Framers viewed them.

Inalienable rights are inseparable from those held by every human being. The Constitution makes no distinction.

“All men are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights....”

Why? Don't you want the antifas from the commie states to buy ARs? Platner can train them how to do a violent revolution. They can all get matching Totenkopf tats, 'n everything.

I'm with you.

Today's ruling on anchor babies makes it even more clear the court is compromised - and does not bode well for a 2A victory on ARs.

I am fortunately a Texas citizen. Residents of CA and other gun-hating states would want it to go forward as they have nothing to lose.

I can be a bit reactionary but I never thought that, not on a Roberts court. Everything he does is political. And ending birthright citizenship would have political fallout, so he you knew which way it would go: status quo, law be damned.

From the article: The Supreme Court said Tuesday that it will consider whether there is a Second Amendment right to possess AR-15s and similar rifles...

The Supreme Court is assuming authority it does not have. The Constitution is clear that the right to keep and bear arms is an inalienable right, and the government, including the Supreme Court of that government has no authority to infringe on it.

Citizens have the inalienable right to battleships with 16" guns if they so desire.

What’s to consider?

It is an ‘arm’ and we can ‘bear’ it...........

The US military almost certainly has the means to kill most armed men within a 10-mile circle.

The AR-15s are rather expensive decorations.

Well no it isn’t just a rifle. It’s a black mass murderer capable of accommodating clips of infinite capacity fitted with flash hiders, bayonet lugs and pistol grips. Even worse it has the thing that goes up. It fires high power ammo that easily shoots down low orbit satellites. If fired by mere mortals the outcome is incurable PTSD. Locking these things up is impossible. If (when) they escape your safe and trigger lock they roam the streets morphing into glocks, cars or just about anything. These are certainly genocide weapons that only the govt can rein in….peons need not apply.

The vote that really counts is made using two feet.

Make sure your young one know a major foreign language and have a skill most countries value.

Take it easy. Simplify your business. Retire if you can. Spend down financial assets.

Think of yourselves as Jews in 1932 Germany or 1941 France.

I'm sorry ...should've realized sarcasm is not easy to decipher on the internet.

My point was: Do you really want to trust THIS Supreme Court to define your gun rights????!!!!!!!!!!!

After this morning's DISASTROUS decision on “Birthright Citizenship” by SCOTUS, do you really want John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett defining your RTK&BA???

If you're in a solid Red state choose your battle's wisely! (I'm in the Commonwealth of VA and decades of the “do nothing” GOP-E has already screwed me!)
