*** it’s time for our annual blitz of “American Made” rankings. If you’re expecting two years of protectionist policies to have shifted things in America’s favor, the 2026 rankings may represent a bit of a mixed bag.
*** Of the top 10 cars in the 2026 Cars.com American Made Index, only four—two Teslas and two Jeeps—come from traditionally American manufacturers. The remaining six are all Toyotas para and Hondas.
1) Tesla model 3
2) Tesla Model Y
3) Jeep Gladiator
4) Jeep Grand Cherokee
5) Honda Ridgeline
6) Honda Odyssey
7) Lexus TX 350
8) Honda Accord
9) Acura MDX
10) Honda Passport

Of the approximately 350 cars for sale in the U.S. in 2026, Cars.com narrowed its list to just 86 that are built or produced somewhere in America. If you’re surprised by the lack of big, American trucks in the top 10, you’re not alone:
“When asked among a selection of vehicles which they thought was built in the U.S., the overwhelming majority went to the Ford F-150, with 71% of consumers believing it to be American-made,” the report summary said.
The F-150 isn’t even the most-American fullsize pickup on the list; that honor goes to the Toyota Tundra, sitting at #16. The F-150 checks in at #27 and #26 (Hybrid and Non, respectively), and the Ram 1500 lands at #55. The GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado, meanwhile, are way down at #78 and #82, respectively, kickin’ it with the likes of the Genesis GV70 and the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (both of which are built in Alabama).
Of the 46 U.S.-based auto plants, 25 are run by foreign-owned automakers and 21 by domestic-owned,” it said.

How many of the ICE on the list don’t have turbos?
The M923A2 is a highly capable, heavy-duty 6x6 military tactical cargo truck manufactured for the U.S. Military as part of the M939 series. It is widely used by civilians for off-roading, overlanding, and heavy-duty homesteading due to its robust Cummins 8.3L turbo-diesel engine, full-time all-wheel drive, and massive hauling capacity. The best pickup.
How many of them are not built by UAW morons?
I dont care where they are built. The expense of a car is such that I will buy the best available and if that is American, great, if not, that is great too, I own a 2026 Camry.
Lol. Not only ate American cars not actually built in America, they are terrible quality in most models. American care production, with a few exceptions has been obsolescent crap since WW2. It will never change and with the advent of small displacement turbo engines (which the Japanese, Koreans and Germans are moving to the future of car quality is bleak. Even Toyota is pushing 10k mile oil change intervals, which guarantees premature burial. On top of this it is becoming difficult to get smog checks on pre-2000 vehicles.
Done with American cars and brands. I live near a couple local UAW halls, and I want to flip the bird in passing. I bought my Bronco Sport in 2021, and I get the recall notification five years later advising me not to drive the vehicle because parts of critical for steering may not have been installed correctly at the factory.

and, the UAW members who build American cars are thieves.
Which is why my most recent auto purchase was a 2011 Lexus IS350C. Made in Japan.
This former owner of 7 Fords just loves his second Pilot. (I got over 8 years out of the first one, and could have kept it much, much longer.)
