Acting DNI Bill Pulte has fired over 50 career Deep State intel officials so far.
“The Deep State firings have begun” a source told CNN on Monday.
On Tuesday, CBS News reported that Pulte fired six political intelligence staffers and sent 45 others to their home agencies.
It was previously reported that Trump wanted to reduce the size of the federal intel agencies.
CBS News reported:
Just over 50 career and political intelligence staff at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence have lost their jobs since Bill Pulte became the agency’s acting director, Friday.
Six career and political intelligence staff were terminated and 45 were sent back to their home agencies, according to three sources familiar with the personnel moves.
Pulte has been asking deputies and other directors for suggestions about cuts. Some of the ODNI deputies pushed for more cuts, but Pulte said that the 51 was enough for now, one of the sources said.
One source characterized the cuts as thoughtful and methodical. No staffers have been removed from the counterterrorism group.
No further firings are planned for now, two of the sources said.
Pulte officially began his job as Acting DNI last Friday.
Earlier this month, President Trump announced his nomination of US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton to serve as Director of National Intelligence.
However, Trump postponed Clayton’s confirmation until the Senators confirm his replacement for US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Groan! The headline sounded so promising. Shuffling those DS'ers back to their "home" agency is not a long-term strategy to drain the swamp.
If’s a start.
I worked with a bunch of SES. I’d fire them all. Arrogant, power-hungry jerks who act like little kings. Office bullies. I never saw one do valuable work.
Great job Bill. There are 120,000 intelligence employees. You just fired .0004% of them. Keep going!
I have seen the same thing in different government departments. It’s not just the intel agencies people, it’s all government people. The higher up the GS ladder you climb the worse it gets...........................
I suspect they know who the bad actors have been. The interim director has the perfect opportunity to clean house a bit so Clayton has a cleaner slate. It also sends the message to the fence sitters, get on board or you will be next.
The home agencies can now get rid of their dead wood.
F’ the Biden and Obama SES filth.
Ok by me
,,, any attempts to ensure the fired employees don’t switch to another government’s payroll?
If they did, they wouldn’t last long...........
If they did, they wouldn’t last long...........
ONLY 50, I was hoping for 500, oh well its a start
120,000..OK well fire 100K and call it a day
Fire EVERYONE.
The phones of federal judges are blowing up tonight
Good start.
Good start. Keep going.
I would like to know why it took so long to do the obvious. There are a lot more that need to be let go in that God forsaken place.
Meh... they’ll all be re-instated by some liberal judge in a few days.
