South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday that President Trump will take military control of the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S.-Iran framework agreement falls apart, escalating the administration's rhetoric on the same morning Vice President JD Vance landed in Switzerland for talks with Iranian negotiators.
"If this deal fails, Trump is going to take the strait over by force," Graham said on CBS's Face the Nation. "The United States will control the strait. We will charge a fee for those who go through."
The comments came hours after Trump floated the same idea on Truth Social, saying that if the framework collapses, the U.S. itself would impose tolls on shipping through the strait. There would be no tolls during the 60-day negotiating window, Trump said, and none after — unless the deal fell through, in which case the U.S. would charge for "services rendered as the Guardian Angel to the countries of the Middle East."

POTUS is in a bit of a pickle and his least bad option is to use a violation by Iran of any agreement to seize the Strait and obliterate the IRGC.
I would imagine the IRGC is dispersed everywhere in Iran. How would you plan on obliterating the IRGC without killing off several hundred thousand Iranian citizens?

Reduce the Straits geopolitical significance to zero

Turn loose US Special Operations and Airborne with a singular mission: Kill IRGC.
There’s only about 150,000 of them with no air cover and quickly, very poor logistics. They are the foundation of internal security so it’s not likely they are dispersed in number to the hinterlands.
Or, we could continue to be weak and servants of pussydom.
Ideally, I would like 6 things happen:
1) Trump to lay out a perfectly reasonable plan for the whole world to see. And Iran to agree and promise to follow the plan.
2) I’d like to see Iran break the deal violently and egregiously.
3) I’d like Trump to go to the UN and to NATO and demand global support for the war that is about to take place.
4) I’d like the UN and NATO to refuse and to side with Iran against Trump.
5) I’d like to see the UN building confiscated in NY and for the US to pull out completely from both the UN and NATO.
6) Then I’d like to see the top 3 cities in Iran nuked.
Once the U.S. controls the Strait of Hormuz, rather than charging tolls on all shipping, it should just charge Iranian ships using the strait.
It better collapse it’s a crap sandwich just blow their asses up already

Btw-I find the idea of a temporary closed straight from time to time being something good for the US. You know-we’re drilling and we’re more dependable suppliers.
Trump and allies should set up a program where the strait is opened and the cost of ANY AND ALL damages inflicted upon shipping by Iran will be 100% covered by IRANIAN IMPOUNDED FUNDS. This would stiffen the spines of the shipping insurers and reinsurers,
And, as FReeper BeauBo suggested elsewhere, maybe also allow that the assets of at fault Iranian officials could also be be seized and said officials held personally liable.
I think if you just did #6 everything else would fall in place
