Tennessee exorcist says Spielberg alien film could be 'cursed,' questions DC exorcist's removal
Christian Post ^ | June 11, 2026 | Jon Brown

Father Dan Reehil, a Roman Catholic priest and exorcist with the Diocese of Nashville, floated the concept of formally cursed movies amid reports earlier this week that Steven Spielberg claimed his new alien film "Disclosure Day" may shake the faith of Christians.

"[Spielberg] said something very odd. He said that this film will shake the faith of many people or have people re-question their belief in God and their religion," Reehil, who pastors St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Columbia, Tennessee, said in a Wednesday video on his YouTube channel.

"First of all, I think perhaps he underestimates most people's faith; but second of all, why would you make a movie with the distinct outcome being people's faith would be shaken or lost?" Reehil asked. "That seems very much like something the Antichrist would do, or Satan."

Spielberg didn't explicitly say he anticipates his movie about the exposure of a government alien cover-up would "shake the faith" of Christians, though such was how a viral X post and some outlets framed his recent comments about the theological and ontological questions his film raises.

Observing Spielberg has been "shaking the alien tree for probably 30 years now" with his other famous films featuring aliens, Reehil said the director "has been in this realm for a long time." He noted the movie's release comes amid heightened debate regarding the potentially spiritual nature of UFOs and so-called extraterrestrials, a topic he said "seems to be coming to a head in some one way or another, and now we have this movie coming out."

While acknowledging he is unsure of Spielberg's "mission," Reehil suggested movies could be made with infernal intentions and formally cursed.

"One of the things that comes to mind is that the movie itself — I'm not saying this is what was done, but this could be done — the movie could be consecrated to Satan, and demons can be attached to the movie," he said.

"This used to happen with heavy metal bands, big rock bands would consecrate their albums to Satan and even have black masses to attach demons to the people who would listen to the music," Reehil continued, adding he was told that by John Corapi, an inactive priest who was formerly a multi-millionaire in Los Angeles and reportedly claimed to have witnessed such activity.

"But they could do that with a movie, that would attach demons of unbelief, demons of fear; demons of terror would attach to people and shake their faith," he said. "So that might be one reason to not go to the movie. I'm not saying that's what they did, I'm just saying that could be done."

"You know, they could put a curse over the film that all who watch it would have demons provoke them. It could happen. We don't know if it did, but it could," he added.

A viral clip of Reehil's claim about allegedly cursed movies received more than 750,000 views on X and prompted skepticism from some on social media.

"Most Hollywood movies are trash and many are immoral to watch (particularly due to sins of the flesh depicted on screen). But the idea that a movie about aliens might be 'cursed' and so dangerous to watch borders on superstition. We're reaching 1980's 'satan panic' hysteria," said Eric Sammons, the editor-in-chief of Crisis Magazine.

"This is pure superstition, and it does damage to any perception that the Catholic Church has anything but a broken epistemology. Knock it off. This is not helpful," said Steve Skojec, a podcaster and former Catholic.

Reehil also questioned last week's removal of fellow exorcist Monsignor Stephen J. Rossetti from the Archdiocese of Washington after he drew attention for expressing his opinion that demons can masquerade as aliens and that "probably many, if not most, of these UFO sightings are, in fact, demons."

"That, to me, is very bizarre, because who's to say that couldn't happen?" Reehil said of Rossetti's assessment. "You know, does that contradict our faith? Absolutely not. Demons have appeared in many ways, shapes and forms for millennia."

"So, I find it an odd reason to can somebody, given that [Rossetti] is a very outstanding theologian. He's a wonderful person, he's an amazing priest. He's an excellent exorcist, and he's been serving God in his church for decades."

During a lengthy interview with podcaster and former Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan in 2024, Reehil said some UFO phenomena could be attributed to human technology, but warned that entities claiming to be extraterrestrials could be demons attempting to deceive mankind into rejecting Christianity.

This is, in part, a continuation of the saga of Msgr. Rossetti’s kicking to the curb by Cardinal McElroy and ongoing discussion of demons posing as aliens.

There are three “popular” exorcists online: Msgr. Rossetti, Fr Chad Ripperger, and Fr. Dan Rehill.

They are ALL very solid when it comes to public speaking, command of the Faith, and the “how” and “why” of demons and possession, oppression, and obsession. These priests are NOT new-age, nonsense-pushing guys.

Msgr. Rossetti is the “kinder and gentler” of the three. He has a lot of videos where he explains situations - like lethargy - that could be demonic and says prayers to help rid the viewers of these beasts. He also has a background in psychiatry so he tackles this from all angles. He speaks Latin often in his prayers.

Fr. Rehill is the “one of us” of the three. He worked on Wall Street, and was married. Thus he comes from a base of having been in many situations in which we all find ourselves. His “empirical” talks, of having been there, are worth the 20 min+ his videos run.

Fr. Ripperger is the most orthodox, dogmatic, educated, and super smart of the three. He also carries a gun. He recently “hit it big” by going on Tucker. You likely have to watch his videos 2 or 3 times to “get it” but it’s worth the investment.

All three carry the same message: demons are real, they hate us, and attack every part of our life where they’re permitted. But God is in control, always. Demons can’t do anything without God’s permission. When He lets possession, oppression, obsession, or any related demonic attack to occurs it’s for our betterment, our sanctification, and to make us holy. That is, to remove the demonic one must pray, alter their life, rid themselves of vice and sin, and become a better Christian.

This is a VERY brief synopsis and I’d encourage you to check out their books and videos. It takes a while to soak it all in.

Al Father Reehil is doing would be to give Speilberg’s new movie more free publicity. Since it has not yet turned a profit, I’m certain the director would be greatly appreciative for any fanning of flames regardless of the reasons.

Excellent post.

We confess in the Creed “maker of all things, visible and invisible”.

God is in control—even though many parts of His creation fail to acknowledge that!

By removing Rossetti, the RCC is doing Satan’s work. They’re voting for him.

It was looking like this thing wasn’t going to break even because it’s crap. This publicity may push it over the top.

It’s not the deep state, but the people who make their living writing books and magazines that contain stories that never really happened, but are fun to think about.

Pretty much all entertainment is bread and circuses to distract us from the sleight of hand stealing our rights and values for power.

Sounds like Spielberg knows it’s a flop in coming and seeking to benefit from publicity stunts and marketing strategies to boost the number of people who buy tickets.

Shades of Rosemarys Baby if there ever was a movie that was really cursed that was it.

It’s a movie. Don’t read too much into it. If it’s bad, criticize it.

This sounds too much like loons finding evil in everything in media. Just ignore stuff that sets you off.

Aa regards the film itself, when in doubt, see what the Critical Drinker has to say (if you’re okay with some language on the salty side): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWnP8RdRrmM

Short version (according to the C D): it’s a pretentious P O S.

"[Spielberg] said something very odd. He said that this film will shake the faith of many people or have people re-question their belief in God and their religion,"

It would greatly please Spielberg to have Christians doubt their faith.

But sorry, Spielberg, your film won't shake our faith in Christ.

It has been posted to BitChute several times already. I kind of scanned through it maybe 5 minutes total, a few moments at a time in various places.... It looked both boring and lame; I had no desire to watch it in entirety, even ‘free’. Sure as heck wouldn’t pay to watch it, and it sure as heck wouldn’t shake my faith.

I think Spielberg knows he made a horrible film, and the only way he thinks he can salvage it is to create a fake controversy over it.

I am not going to see the film because the premise seems so “this has been done before”

World doesn’t realize aliens are here. Some person tells the world.

Isn’t this as old as HG Wells war of the worlds? Isn’t it the plot line of many x files episodes? Of the serial V, of close encounters etc.?

Maybe if he made a film where the aliens come and convert and become Amish, now that would be new

Your last sentence may be on to something (Where the Aliens become Amish).

What if we found out that several Alien Species had already become part of society. Many had become “Teachers”.
What if that partially explained the “Hot For Teacher” syndrome that we are caught in right now, where educated women throw their marriage, their career, their moral reputations down the Garbage Disposal, just to satisfy some
inexplicable urge to debase, debauch and demean anything young and innocent?

"cursed movies"

Yeah from the box-office failures, yeah I'll believe that.

The way HollyWorthless and other publishing outlets keep sexually assaulting good scripts and established story lines.

Oh YEAH they are "cursed".

Yes, the demonic aliens are very anxious about their Socialist Security forced ponzi scheme running out of runway by 2032. This is why they are increasinh the frequency of their tones and defecating rainbows like “Disclosure”.
