Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Donald Trump to hand over the blueprints for Patriot missiles so that Ukraine can produce them domestically to boost its air defences.
Diplomatic sources told The Telegraph that the Ukrainian president suggested a licensing agreement during several meetings with his US counterpart at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, on Tuesday, and that Mr Trump had indicated that technical discussions should begin.
During face-to-face talks, Mr Zelensky showed Mr Trump images of the damage caused by a Russian strike on Kyiv's Pechersk Lavra monastery, as he argued for help strengthening his air defences.
Mr Trump later told reporters: "I'm going to do whatever I can." He added: "Look, Russia should make a deal."
European leaders were said to be buoyed by the constructive nature of their talks at the Évian resort's Hotel Royal.
Diplomats and officials familiar with the discussions said it was agreed that the conflict was turning in Ukraine's favour. "Everyone agreed that there is a shifting narrative," said a European official.
Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president, said: "The tide is turning for Ukraine. Russia's fatigue is openly showing. That's the time to double down on our support."

Give him the keys to Fort Knox while you’re at it.
In exchange for what?
Don’t think so. Europe can pay us for the Weapons for Zelensky.
First he disrespects Trump in the White House (where he effectively got kicked out), now he demands? Trump ain't Biden.
Who would Zelenskyyy sell the plans to?
Sure. How about we give you all our top secret atom bomb codes too?
It’s not just the physical rocket. It’s the electronics that guide it.
Uh, how about NO!!!!!!!.........
Screw that.
I could see him threatening to sell the blueprints the first time he demands money and we refuse to pay it. He comes across as that kind of person…
Sure why not? It’s empty anyway
Reading comprehension is a son of a gun.
Sharing plans ≠ a hand-out
The military-industrial complex ain’t in business to give stuff away.
In exchange for weakening Russia further.
We face two global military threats, Russia and China. Ukraine has been bleeding the former for four years.
Ever hear of the term "intellectual property?"
You think creating "intellectual property" is free?
Do you really think the military-industrical complex is in business to give stuff away?
Basic econmics ain't your strong suit, is it?
“Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Donald Trump to hand over the blueprints for Patriot missiles so that Ukraine can produce them domestically to boost its air defences.” You boys can’t figure that out for yourselves, Zel?

When I read this, Zelensky reminds me of these aliens from Star Trek:TNG.
The Pakleds are famous for their catchphrase, "We are smart. We need things. You think we're stupid, but we're smart," which they use to trick other species into giving them advanced technology.
A set of blue prints isn’t enough. You would need the entire tech data package which includes the instructions on how to make stuff. The blue prints only tell you what, not how? And, much of the how too is in the minds of those making stuff. The tech data package might tell you to stir, the man experienced in making stuff will tell you to stir in a counter-clockwise direction.
I keep hearing this BS about Russia being a threat.
If Russia is such a threat, why would the Ukraine not spend and arm up its military?
It spent that cash like the rest of the euro weenies on grift and gibsmedats handouts for its socialist populous.
"Who would Zelenskyyy sell the plans to?"
