The Israeli military announced Sunday it launched strikes on Beirut targeting Hezbollah infrastructure. Smoke could be seen rising over the Lebanese capital.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes were in response to Hezbollah attacks in northern Israel.

When Israel last struck the Beirut suburbs a week ago, Iran responded with strikes on Israel.

Tehran, which is Hezbollah’s main backer, has insisted that any U.S.-Iran ceasefire deal must also include an end to Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

To Israel, this is not some game. I don’t think they let up on hezbolah just because it’s Trumps birthday.

Whatever strategy or 4D chess Trump is playing at, this needs to be finished. The only thing the IRGC is going to respond to is violence of action. IMO we need a solid week of pounding, not ‘proportional response’ to get real surrender.

“Deal” or no “Deal”, the strikes have to with Hezbollah’s chosen war against Israel, and Israel would be responding as they are irrespective of U.S. negotiations with Iran.

“Tehran, which is Hezbollah’s main backer, has insisted that any U.S.-Iran ceasefire deal must also include an end to Israeli strikes in Lebanon.”

Let Lebanon make its own deal with Israel. - All Iran is doing is proving how dedicated it is to terrorism.

Hezbollah is 100% Israel’s business. The US does nothing there, Lebanon. IRGC apocalyptic scum try to tie the Lebanon situation to US negotiations on Hormuz blockade, enriched uranium, nukes, missiles.

Allegedly an overall cease fire will be signed today. So we shall see.

Trump seems to have no understanding how these conflicts are existential conflicts for both Israel and Ukraine.

Any "deal" no matter how apparently beneficial or lucrative that does not address the aggressiveness of both Iran and Russia is not going to create conditions for peace.

Right now the Iranians are obviously playing Trump for time, hoping the Dems will hobble him to take the pressure off after the midterms. Plus we seem to have severely underestimated Iran's willingness and ability to wreak havoc on the Saudis and Gulf States and their ability to endure economic losses. Similarly, Russia is on the back foot at the moment but is waiting for political change in Germany or France to break European assistance to Ukraine.

Whatever Trump is doing seems to be having almost no effect on either conflict.

Good to see Israel taking care of business on the battlefield rather than relying on some BS deal that, even if signed (a big if), will never be adhered to (by Iran) anyway. Trump’s initial instinct of demanding unconditional surrender was the right one.

Iran is using Hizbollah to queer the “Deal” -another diversionary tactic. but good on Israelis for defending no. Israel- and diminishing Hizbollah huge missile build-up. the world watched silent for years as H armed itself to the teeth, under cover of UNIFIL.
