Karmelo Anthony’s claims that he stabbed a Texas teen in self-defense may be falling apart after a witness called by his own lawyers changed their tune.
Collin County prosecutors rested their case against the 19-year-old on Saturday after calling up 21 witnesses to testify about 17-year-old Austin Metcalf’s fatal stabbing at an April 2025 high school track meet, according to multiple reports covering the untelevised trial. Anthony was the aggressor throughout the deadly altercation, entering a school sports team’s tent where Metcalf was, cursing and taunting those who asked him to leave and killing Metcalf with a knife after Metcalf pushed him, witnesses reportedly testified.

Anthony’s defense began calling up witnesses on Monday, including one who admitted to inconsistencies in his testimony upon questioning from a prosecutor, CBS News reported. The witness reportedly testified that he initially told police Anthony was surrounded by a mob when the stabbing happened and later realized it was after the stabbing based on surveillance video.
“You know you’re wrong?” the prosecutor reportedly asked.”Yes, sir,” the witness replied.

The jury has been dismissed for the day and will return tomorrow for closing arguments.
Wow, what a stupid spin on the witness acknowledging something irrelevant on cross-exam...
If the jury selection had gone differently, this would be another OJ trial.

If a white novelist wrote a crime novel which included a black character named Carmelo he would be accused of racism.
I don’t think that’s Karmelo Anthony....but it exemplifies his attitude perfectly.
We need Vigilance Committees. Lots of them, nationwide. This crap is out of hand and off the charts.
We know the riots will go through Juneteenth. The only question is will they be dragged out till Independence Day. What is Kalshi saying on that?

They did not know each other. They were on competing teams, with team tents separated on the field. Anthony went to the tent, had premediatively concealed a knife in his backpack, kept his hand in his backpack so he could draw and stab quickly before they could stop him, and goaded the white boys to start a fight. He went to the tent with intent to kill.
You have to have followed the defense’s presentation this morning to understand how bad their witnesses were for Anthony’s case.

Anthony called the crowd “a bunch of pussies” who were “not going to do nothing about it” and began reaching for his backpack threateningly, the witness reportedly said.
“Karmelo put his hand in the bag and said five times, ‘touch me and see what happens,’” the witness reportedly told jurors. “Austin said he was not going to touch the guy; he was calm.” No one in the tent knew who Anthony was, another teenage student reportedly testified.”
What precisely was the “stupid spin”?
It doesn’t appear to be him at all, but the attitude is the same.
I’ve read that one of the witnesses testified another teammate invited Anthony to the tent. Assuming that’s true, any word about who that teammate was, and if they have testified? That individual, if they exist, is an accessory to this whole thing. They well knew that he would not be welcome.

I’m going to be honest: the defense was abysmal.
The few witnesses called to the stand today either could not remember key details or simply did not see what actually happened. Their testimony was thoroughly challenged during cross-examination by Bill Wirsky. The defense presented no additional evidence beyond witnesses who were unable to confirm the long-standing claim that Karmelo Anthony was “attacked” - a claim that has circulated since the beginning of this case.
There were also persistent rumors that the Metcalf brothers were “bullies.” No evidence was presented to support those claims. In fact, the testimony painted a very different picture. More than 20 witnesses called by the prosecution consistently described Austin and Hunter as leaders, role models, “their brothers”.
Closing arguments are tomorrow morning. After that, the jury will begin deliberations. Judge Roach has informed the jurors that they will be sequestered during deliberations. If they do not reach a verdict by the end of the day, they will be housed in a hotel and isolated from outside communication until deliberations are complete.
I do not foresee this jury taking more than a day to reach a verdict.
During jury selection, the prospective jurors were educated on several important aspects of Texas law regarding self-defense.
First, murder under Texas law involves intentionally or knowingly causing the death of another person. Contrary to what many people believe, Texas law does not require the state to prove premeditation in order to secure a murder conviction.
Jurors were also told that words alone do not justify the use of deadly force. Additionally, a person cannot provoke a confrontation, escalate it, and then successfully claim self-defense after using deadly force.
I will be posting a full video later today with a detailed account of everything that occurred inside the courtroom.
I was listening to frequent trial reports on Twitter and it sounded like every defense witness confirmed the prosecution’s version of events. All the attorneys had a bench conference after which the judge broke early for lunch and didn’t resume for over 3 hours. Many have speculated the defense was hoping to cut a last minute deal and struck out. When they resumed the defense called one last witness and rested.
Jasper, Texas some years ago a couple of white dudes killed a black man by dragging him behind a truck. All envolved were once prison mates together and I suspect this was just an extension of prison hatred.
However, an all white jury convicted them and the governor signed the death warrant. They are dead as they should be. I would like to see the same courtesy from black jurors if the victim is white. We have a real cultural problem.
It could be Karmelo. It could be any black man who demands respect but won’t give respect. Effing thug.

Which is why there was a very long delay today, after which the defense rested their case.
Attempted to cut their loses but to late now.
Also, the jury is being sequestered.
Some federal judge will overturn it cause no blacks were on the jury.
