"No same-sex adoptions." Polish party "Confederation" submits bill

The Confederation announces that it will submit to the Sejm a bill prohibiting the adoption of children by people in same-sex relationships.

Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Krzysztof Bosak, announced the submission of the bill on Wednesday. "We are submitting a bill to the Sejm banning same-sex adoptions," he wrote on the X platform.

Bosak: We need clear regulations to protect children Bosak argues that currently, Polish law does not explicitly prohibit adoption by people in same-sex relationships. "Few people know that there is currently no such prohibition in Polish law. Until now, it wasn't necessary because the matter was obvious. Now, it's no longer obvious," Bosak stated.

The Confederation leader also attacked Donald Tusk's government and EU institutions. "Donald Tusk's government is registering foreign same-sex 'marriages' in violation of the Constitution, and the ECJ is forcing the implementation of a leftist ideological agenda," he wrote. Bosak added that clear regulations protecting children are needed. "Let's settle this issue unequivocally once and for all: no adoptions by formal or informal same-sex unions," he emphasized.

The bill submitted by the Confederation amends the Family and Guardianship Code by adding a new article titled "Negative Prerequisites for Adoption." According to the Confederation's proposal, a child cannot be adopted by a person who:

- is married to a person of the same sex under the law of another country, - is in another registered same-sex relationship that produces effects similar to marriage, - is in cohabitation with a person of the same sex.

The ban would apply to both joint adoption and the adoption of a child of a spouse. The bill also assumes that the new regulations will apply to adoption proceedings that have already begun but are not yet completed. The law would enter into force on the date of its publication.
