A United flight with more than 230 people aboard hit a bakery company's tractor-trailer on the NJ Turnpike Sunday, damaging the plane and the vehicle in a shocking incident caught on dashcam. The driver of the tractor-trailer got glass in his hand and arm, but is expected to make a full recovery. Video shows his view at the moment of impact; he goes from singing to himself to a blur; now new surveillance video shows what the view looked like from the outside United said in a statement that it will conduct a "rigorous safety inspection" regarding what went wrong; the airline says the entire crew has been pulled from service in the meantime The NTSB and FAA are investigating. The former has classified the incident as an accident. The investigation is ongoing Just when you thought the video couldn't get more shocking: Newly surfaced security camera footage shows a view of the NJ Turnpike as a United jet clips a tractor-trailer and a light pole on its descent into Newark.
Video appears to show the view from Newark Airport as it happens.
In it, Flight 169, arriving from Venice, Italy, is seen in slow motion approaching the runways -- at the same time a bakery truck is traveling up the Turnpike a few hundred feet from them.
Video appears to show the plane knock the tractor-trailer with its landing gear on its final approach. It also knocks down a light pole. The truck driver was able to pull over. His window was shattered.
More stunning footage: Dashcam video captures the sound and scene inside the truck cab during the moment of impact. The driver appears to be singing to himself. There's a loud whistling that sounds like a jet landing.

Wow. I’ve driven the NJ Turnpike many times. It bears very little resemblance to any runway at Liberty International.

I tried booking a United flight from Newark to the NJ Turnpike and they hung up on me.
DEI (most likely) strikes again.
If it was a white guy driving we will know that tonight. Woman, Black, Lesbian, Gay, Somali................we will NEVER know.

I don’t think the plane touched the truck at all.
Captain Steeeve showed how the trailer barely swayed as it was the jet turbulence that rocked it.
It was the left wing of the aircraft that smacked the light pole sending it crashing into the windshield of the truck.
It was pilot error in the sense that he accepted ATC instructions to land on a too short runway.
There were wind gusts ongoing so ATC gave him that runway which would not be in conflict with those gusts.
But a 767 Heavy has no business trying to land there. The pilot could have and should have advised “Unable” and allowed ATC to redirect.
They are SO lucky the plane and everyone on that overpass were not destroyed.

The truck and trailer were overturned. In this video the plane MISSES the truck.

I saw the video from INSIDE the Semi. The truck was overturned immediately upon being hit.
