President Trump and Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said in separate interviews on Sunday that the war against Iran was not over, seeming to undermine messaging from the Trump administration last week that the conflict had run its course.
The interviews further compounded confusion about a military campaign marked by shifting goals and messaging since the American-Israeli attacks on Iran began in late February.
Mr. Trump, in an interview released by the syndicated news show “Full Measure,” said Iran had been defeated militarily. Yet when asked if it was accurate to say that combat operations were “over and done,” he refuted that assessment.
“No, I didn’t say that,” Mr. Trump said, adding that Iran was “defeated, but that doesn’t mean they are done.”
Mr. Netanyahu also told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in an interview that the conflict was not over, laying out a longer list of unfinished business to address.

Congress has the sole power under the U.S. Constitution to declare war.
It hasn’t done so with respect to Iran.
It seems as if Congress at the 60-day War Powers deadline is low key saying: Mr. President, with all due respect, we don’t find it expedient to declare war with Iran at this time.
Trump is not saying it, but Congress’s apparent lack of enthusiasm for the U.S. military engaging in further bomb-dropping may be having a chastening influence on him.
Maybe the war actually is over?
Sooner the Mullahs are sent to 72 virgins, the better world will be.
Congress can declare or not declare all they want. The president under the constitution has the sole power to command the troops. If Congress doesn’t like that they could defund or not fund the effort.
POTUS Netanyahu says the war is not over.
The same party controls both branches (legislative and executive) of FedGov.
It stands to reason that Trump is conferring, confidentially, with Congressional leadership on potential next steps to try and get what we want out of this Iran situation.
Not that Trump is tying his own hands of course.
Well, this has dragged on long enough.
Pitter Patter, best get at ‘er.
Let’s Roll.
But has it really?
The Iranians are suffering an estimated $450 million per day in lost oil revenues. Let's wait until the pain really sinks in before doing anything rash, like prematurely ending the blockade!

"Anyone else want to negotiate?"
Maybe the war actually is over?
As long as iran has nuke dust, the war will never be over.
F congress, those sorry bastards can't do anything except take breaks.
Trump is not asking congress for approval or "enthusiasm", he is on his own time table.
If Trump left and didn't get the dust out, it would be a self defeat that Trump would never do...two months of war and we just walk away and let the mullahs keep the nukes...ain't gonna ever happen.
We have it in our power to bring this to a successful conclusion but the strategy over the past month to two months has been horrible. We know that Iran is not serious about negotiating. We know that they are using negotiations as a stall tactic. We should have been better prepared for their actions in the Strait of Hormuz (we’ve heard over and over that our military “war gamed” them shutting off the strait for “decades”). We’ve known that Iran is being supplied through the Caspian Sea by Russia and China but don’t seem to have a plan to stop it. I’ve seen all the articles about how we are “winning” and how the IRGC is being slowly degraded. Maybe that’s true and maybe it isn’t. As long as they stay firmly in charge, the war will continue. We can take out their leadership here and there but its not removing the IRGC from being in charge of Iran. And we have not made progress in seizing the billions that they have stored away in Gulf States and other overseas bank accounts. That is the part that amazes me the most. I don’t read Trump’s Truth Social posts on the war anymore. They are just words at this point. A statement that the war will go on sounds more like a threat to the US than Iran. We’re going to be in this low-grade war for what? Another 6 months? Another year? Or until Trump simply declares victory and walks away? Do we really think we can negotiate to get Iran to give up all its uranium and drone production with the IRGC still in charge?
The only bombig that makes sense is bombing that targets the irgc. The rest of it just burdens the population.
Likely every member of the irgc sleeps in a different bed every night
Didn’t Marco Rubio just tell us Operation Awesome Epicness or whatever was over, not even a week ago?
Key word
Operation
I guess the NYT figured that out after looking up the meaning of “Totally unacceptable”.
Its becoming apparent that the NYT laid off the smarter ones.
