A U.S. Army soldier was arrested on an indictment accusing him of using classified information to make bets that won him $400,000 on the Polymarket prediction market related to the American military mission that captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, the Department of Justice said on Thursday.
The soldier, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, “participated in the planning and execution of the” operation to capture Maduro, the DOJ said.

The soldier should not have done this. He could have caused mission failure and death to his fellow military, but if we’re going to hold him responsible, like we should, then we should hold politicians responsible.
When you select soldiers for their unconventional, out of the box thinking, train them to leverage every situation to their advantage and inculcate them with a spirit of winning at all costs, you should not be surprised if some of them color outside of the lines every now and then.
Execute him.

Martha Stewart wasn’t convicted for insider trading per se. She was convicted of lying to investigators, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
And I don’t think using classified military/government information is the same as inside stock information anyway.
Peons can’t do this stuff! Only CONgress can inside trade and enrich themselves!

Not necessarily, as he might not have been a Green Beret/Navy Seals/160th/Delta Force etc. member, as I’m sure most of these units have non SF qualified personnel in support roles. Stop speculating on a conservative forum, as you’ve added nothing here.
The “little guy” gets busted for insider trading (rightly) but plenty of people in Congress and the administration are making $$ on the whipsaw oil markets and Wall Street trading (bomb Iran, ceasefire/no ceasefire, Hormuz open, Hormuz closed, etc.).
