Police in Dauphin County were dispatched to Hersheypark on Friday evening after a group of teenagers was involved in an altercation during the park’s opening day.
A Hersheypark spokesperson provided the following statement to PennLive:
“There was an altercation between a group of teenagers in Hersheypark the evening of Friday, April 3. Police responded to assist Park security in swiftly addressing the situation and removing those involved from the Park.
“As safety is our top priority, Hersheypark has a zero tolerance policy for behavior of this type. Those who do not abide by our policy will no longer be welcome on our property.”
About 7 p.m., a person in the Hersheypark Passholders Facebook group posted, “Leaving the park now and about 8 cop cars just went flying in. Any idea what is going on?”
A few minutes later, a commenter described witnessing a chaotic scene:
“Bunch of kids running through overlook, knocking over people on chairs, kids, strollers and everything. Absolutely ridiculous. Probably about 50 kids in a group. Now running through the park to find whoever they were going after.”
Another commenter wrote: “Saw a large group of 30+ teens being escorted out by security 20 minutes ago. I was in the Pioneer Frontier food court area. Now Storm Runner is blocked off and police are there.”
One commenter said the teens should be “banned permanently.”
“My husband and young son were almost trampled. It was a very scary situation for such a happy place,” wrote another.
As of Friday, there was no chaperone policy listed on Hersheypark’s website.

Not those pesky “teens” again?!
Who could it possibly be? Those darn sub Saharian Nubians stop by on their way to Good Friday Church?
“teens”. So predictable.
“Amish, Yogi.”
I would bet money on it.

It’s them again, Yogi.
The Dindu Nuffins at it again.
So they were just escorted out of the park. Knocking over parents and children and maybe elderly is okay?
Yep.
Ghetto Park. Knoebels - about an hour away is where the civilized folk go.
Unfortunately.
Uh huh.

Wake up, Hersheypark. It’s not 1955 anymore. Get a chaperone policy in place. Do it right now. Metal detectors wouldn’t hurt, either.
Might want to put barbed wire on all the perimeter fences, too.
That’s it?
