President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it's "not possible" for the federal government to fund Medicare, Medicaid and child care costs, arguing that it should be up to the states to "take care" of those programs while the federal government focuses on military spending.

This is so true, but the Democrat senators complaining about this on X won't do a thing to help their own state.
it’s “not possible” for the federal government to fund Medicare, Medicaid and child care costs, arguing that it should be up to the states to “take care” of those programs while the federal government focuses on military spending.
YES! YES! YES!
Finally, someone said it.
Later in his remarks, the president added that states would have to raise their taxes to pay for child care costs and that the federal government, "could lower our taxes a little bit to them to make up" for it.
Move some of the tax burden from federal level to the state level and let each state raise whatever taxes they want to pay for whatever welfare programs they want. All states get what they want. How can anyone be against that?
We need to end the federal deductions for state income taxes to truly put the welfare burden choices onto the individual states.
Eliminating the federal bureaucracies that mismanage those programs alone would probably fund those programs.
Stop the early learning programs...there is no gain intellectually....and they are nothing but free babysitters.
Let’s also terminate SNAP, WIC, EBT, Section 8, and the EITC, for starters...
Right.
Get the federal gov’t OUT of unconstitutional federal gov’t healthcare!!!
Best: get healthcare back to the free market DIRECTLY between doctor and patient!!!
I agree with some of Trump on this. Except, it should be Medicaid and Welfare and Food stamps. That should be a state issue.
Medicare and SS should be Federal.
Because the fundamental premise of all liberal belief systems is : make someone else pay for it.
Not “we are all in this together”. No : your problem.
Without the American Taxpayer funding those programs, there will be no money for rats to embezzle.
Without the American Taxpayer funding those programs, there will be no money for rats to embezzle.
The states might care more about the fraud if it came out of their budgets.
You misspelled "learing" programs.
The real problem started with LBJ and his crooked and corrupt attempts to get into the healthcare and seniors’ related businesses.
Trump is right. Medicare and Medicaid and daycare, don’t belong in the federal budget.
Unfortunately, he and republicans will lose millions of votes, if republicans in congress act to enact those Trump ideas with bills/laws.
Nevertheless, it took decades for those programs to become embedded in the federal budget system, and it would also take many years if any of those programs were to be rid of. None of Trump’s ideas on social programs will happen under his remaining term years.
And that way if the state is stupid enough to allow/enable fraud it will only be their taxpayers - the ones who actually vote for who makes the implementation decisions - who are impacted.
The idea here is that for true accountability the people who make the decisions have to be held accountable by their own people. As long as somebody else is footing the bill for democrat states’ corruption, their voters have no reason to hold them accountable.
Judges are saying that the feds can’t protect their funds from state fraud issues by withholding funds specifically from that state. The only solution, then, is for feds to just not be involved in any of these programs where the fraud is so prevalent.
Basically this is saying to the corrupt states and judges: No taxation without representation. You can’t have our tax money if we have no say in how you spend it.
Ingenious. Once again, Trump is pinpointing the source of the problem and taking it head-on.
Yes, you pay Medicare taxes to the federal government even while working in Kansas. Medicare is a federal program, and the 1.45% tax (plus 1.45% from your employer) is withheld from your paycheck and sent to the IRS, not the state of Kansas, regardless of your employer’s location. I’m on Medicare, I paid taxes for a long time, none went to the state.
