Secretary of War Pete Hegseth appeared to confirm Thursday that the Trump administration is contemplating asking Congress to approve $200 billion in supplemental defense funding amid the war in Iran.
On Wednesday, the Washington Post reported that the Pentagon had asked the White House to make the $200 billion request to lawmakers in order to replenish America’s munitions stockpile, though it was not clear when or whether the Trump administration would decide to do so.
“As far as the $200 billion, I think that number could move, obviously,” Hegseth told reporters. “It takes money to kill bad guys. So we’re going back to Congress and our folks there to ensure that we’re properly funded for what’s being done.” The amount requested is believed to be far beyond what the US has actually expended so far in its sweeping bombing campaign to cripple the Iranian regime, indicating a wider goal of beefing up America’s defense industrial base amid fears that the ability to rapidly produce weapons domestically has degraded over time.
“An investment like this is meant to say, ‘Hey, we’ll replace anything that was spent.’ And now … we’re reviving our defense industrial base and rebuilding the arsenal of freedom,” Hegseth added.
Pentagon officials previously told Congress that as of March 5, the sixth day of combat, the US spent about $11.3 billion on the operation.

You heard anything about this?
I don’t know why it should be a surprise to anyone. In any war, you got to restock your weapons. We’ll probably save some money by selling some of the weapons to the Israelis
Iran is an enemy....to the world.
Whatever it takes!!
This is money well spent.
The CCP knows how much ammo we have used.
Spending hundreds of billions on another unpopular war will definitely Make America Great Again
The war is very popular.
The Iranian war is quite popular, at the moment.
It’s not like we’re going to spend it all at once. It’s going to take at least a couple of years.
In which country? And with which generational cohort?
Take the fee from increased oil production revenues - it’s easier to starve ‘bad guys’ than it is to kill them.
..oh yeah, a war supported by 89% (CNN #s) of Repubs and over 50% of Dems is “unpopular” according to a maroon... ymmv
Here’s a shockaroo: who do you think Iran’s BBF is?
Folks just love five dollar a gallon gas.
“Stop giving Ukraine anything. They’re not an enemy...though they’re not a friend either...just a mooch.
Iran is an enemy....to the world.”

People will soon tire of paying an extra $1.50 per gallon.
