Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say they attacked the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf after US and Israeli strikes killed the country’s supreme leader.
“The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was struck by four ballistic missiles,” the Guards say in a statement carried by local media, warning that the “the land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of the terrorist aggressors.”
If this actually occurred then we should just make the country of Iran a glass parking lot!
Who knew Baghdad Bob got a new gig with Iran...
As usual they are full of crap
Sounds like the kind of rhetoric we heard from Imperial Japan in late 1944.
Carriers move, constantly. The ballistic accuracy, measured by “circular error probable”, is a large muliple of the blast radius of any conventional warhead, and the carrier displacement, or distance traveled, is too. A determined volley of 100 rounds or so might score a hit. Aircraft carries do not have radar capable of tracking ballistic missiles, but their escorting cruisers and destroyers do.
One fact that makes the story dubious is that even if the Iranians did score a lucky hit, they would have no way of confirming that they did.
I do not see any confirmation. Just chatter.
As of 22 minutes ago, per Times of India:
“The US Navy has not confirmed any attack on the carrier.”
They might be able to figure out roughly where it might be by watching the flight patterns of US Navy jets.
However, without input from either Russia or China, I doubt the Iranians could aim a missile accurately enough to be able to hit it.
Technically a ballistic missile had no terminal guidance so no, a ballistic missile is not a threat to ships with one exception. That exception is if the ballistic missile has a nuclear warhead. Then close is good enough.
IRGC can’t even hit a stationary target with their ballistic missiles so it is highly unlikely that they could hit a moving target with multiple layers of defense. The fact that IRGC claims that all four of their missiles hit underscores the likelihood that this is just another lie. It might be a little more believable if they said that they fired four but hit with one or even two. They just can’t help themselves when it comes to their delusions.
No, the people of Iran don’t deserve to die along with the oppressors they’ve been standing against even in the face of certain death.
We need to continue the sorties to destroy their missiles and (especially) missile launchers. And then we need to provide air cover for the Eternal Guard currently in exile, so they can come in and take away all the arms of the regime’s people. The Iranian people will take back their country.
Had that actually occurred the patriotic media in this country would be reporting with breathless glee.
So all those happy and joyful Iranians get to die after all we did to save them?
Yes with “glee”. And even more gleeful if American lives were lost.
Times of India being the largest circulation in the world of English language news source, it is more likely to be right than religious fanatics from Iran.
While I highly doubt the Iranian claim, I equally doubt the US Navy.
The US Navy lied to the people of the Greatest Country in the World for three months about the state of Yorktown after the Battle of Midway; it was not until September 1942 that they changed the status of the ship from "badly damaged" to "sunk".

Why did they give the Iranian admiral a glass bottomed boat?
So he could salute his fleet.
The Iranian navy will be utterly and completely destroyed.
Ships flying surrender colors will be spared, though, according to Trump.
