President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced plans for a $33 billion natural gas-fired power plant in southern Ohio, describing it as the largest gas generation project in U.S. history and a cornerstone of a broader $550 billion investment commitment from Japan.
The Ohio facility, to be built near Portsmouth, is part of the first group of projects under a new U.S.-Japan trade agreement aimed at strengthening economic and national security ties between the two countries.
Under the agreement, Japan has committed to invest $550 billion in the United States. In exchange, U.S. tariffs on Japanese imports will be reduced to 15%. Trump said the deal is designed to revitalize American industry and boost domestic energy production.

Yet will it be built if the USSC overturns Trump's tariffs which this deal is predicated upon.? Will the facility be finished if the nation's direction goes green again? Then there is the question if the courts will allow the deal to go forward until radiation contamination lawsuits against the previous uranium enrichment facility are resolved. NIMBY runs strong in the Scioto Valley.
More, please. Replace the Wind Farms with gas production.
It’s all great. But how the hell do power plants cost so much money now? I would bet there is at least 95% of the cost going to grift and fraud.
One of my daughters has a friend who absolutely hates Trump. But her friend’s husband works at coal powered power plants and Trump has really incentivizes that industry so much so that her husband is making double what he did last year and getting a lot of bonuses to boot.
"...The Ohio plant will have a planned capacity of 9.2 gigawatts, roughly equivalent to the output of about nine nuclear reactors. At full capacity, it could generate enough electricity to power all homes in Ohio or approximately 7.4 million homes across the PJM Interconnection grid, the nation’s largest regional transmission organization...."
That is bloody gigantic. May be one of the reasons.
“””so much so that her husband is making double what he did last year and getting a lot of bonuses to boot.””””
And they will continue to vote for democrats because ORANGE MAN BAD
9.2 gigawatts...could generate enough electricity to power all homes in Ohio OR one AI data center.
Gas is much cleaner than coal-right? The left should be ok with it but they’re against all fossil fuels. Gas isn’t clean enough to them.
Neither is solar clean enough-trust me. They’re just against economic growth and if solar was the most efficient they’d be in deeper excrement about it.
FREyores have to complain or they aren’t happy.
I’m too lazy to do it, but you need to compute the cost per kilowatt and compare that will other power generating plants.
The big plants probably produce the cheapest power.
That’s not to say that there’s no wasted money on these projects.
The left hates anything that helps capitalism.
there you go!
It’s all great. But how the hell do power plants cost so much money now? I would bet there is at least 95% of the cost going to grift and fraud.”
Maybe you should look into it in detail rather than making claims without having all the facts.
Don’t count your chickens yet
Democrats and their Black Robed Tyrants will find a way to F*CK IT UP!!!
WHEN WILL DEMS LEARN TO NEVER PLAY POKER WITH TRUMP????
That is bloody gigantic.

I think that West County in Florida is the biggest gas generating station now... It has a capacity of 3,750 MW so this is nearly 2 1/2 times as big.
Once the dim wits are re-elected this gas plant will be cancelled and maybe replaced with a wind farm or solar panel.
WINNING!!!
The end of the “Endangerment Finding” at the EPA pretty much greenlighted this project.
