Trump’s CISA chief at it again: uploads sensitive files into ChatGPT

Key takeaways:

CISA’s interim head Madhu Gottumukkala uploaded sensitive “for official use only” documents into the public version of ChatGPT, triggering security alerts despite the tool being blocked for other DHS employees.

Although the materials were not classified, experts warn that using public AI tools poses real risks because uploaded data can be retained, breached, or used to inform responses to other users.

The incident adds to growing turmoil at CISA, where Gottumukkala’s leadership has sparked internal backlash, staffing losses, and concerns over judgment and governance.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) defends critical infrastructure against threats.

Obviously, infrastructure vulnerabilities might well be unclassified, but shouldn’t be publicly revealed. The head of such an agency should know this...

I once worked for Fortune 500 company with 80,000 employees

I remember the CEO saying in meeting - “with 80,000 people, I am certain that at this very moment, someone, somewhere in the company is doing something stupid, illogical or even illegal which creates risk for us.”

I would trust nothing at CISA. Nothing at all. Bunch of deepfake senior bureaucrats protecting turf and trying to keep on with the fake counter disinformation mission and impeding Trump everywhere they can. Securing elections is a key mission and boy look at their ass-covering efforts to cover up their failures at that mission. This outfit has needed nuking from space for a long time.

I am so sick of these stories. Crack on his azz and either imprison him or send his azz back to whatever brown country he came from.

From Wikipedia:

“ In December 2025, Politico reported that Gottumukkala had requested to see access to a controlled access program—an act that would require taking a polygraph—in June. Gottumukkala failed the polygraph in the final weeks of July. The Department of Homeland Security began investigating the circumstances surrounding the polygraph test the following month and suspended six career staffers, telling them that the polygraph did not need to be administered”

Madhu Gottumukkala is a U.S. citizen.

He was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, on October 29, 1976, but has served in high-level U.S. government roles, including as the acting director and deputy director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). His career includes leadership positions in South Dakota's state government and federal appointments under the Trump administration, which require U.S. citizenship. He is described in official sources as an "American engineering executive" and holds a Ph.D. from Dakota State University, a U.S. institution.

My information is probably faulty, but I thought they got rid of FOUO and replaced it with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Little people get into very bad trouble for not following the rules with either classified or sensitive information. Big People who handle very serious material can get away with murder (looking at you Hillary).

Is this the same CISA that along with the DOS under Biden helped Brazil “ fortify” their last election ?
