Immigration and Customs Enforcement has a bigger budget than any other U.S. law enforcement agency at $85 billion. That’s far greater than the budget for the U.S. Marines, yet it’s hard to see any of the same competence and professionalism in ICE operations.
Donald Trump returned to the White House with a promise to slash government waste and inefficiency through a Department of Government Efficiency. Congress should now create a DOGE to rein in wasted taxpayer money, poor management, incompetent behavior and mission creep at ICE....

The fatal flaw in this argument is the DOGE didn’t actually cut any spending. It found a bunch of stuff that should be cut but the budgets were never cut.
So let’s do the same thing with ICE. Find a bunch of stuff that should be cut but don’t actually cut any of it.
I’m good with that.
The budget for ICE can come down when the 20 million remaining illegals in this country have all been removed. Until then, they have my support and if that means they have more personnel than the US Marine Corp, so be it.
What’s a Jerimi Suri?
“Congress should now create a DOGE to rein in wasted taxpayer money, poor management, incompetent behavior and mission creep at ICE....”
Or how about this, calculate the cost of all ICE activity for each state, bill each state for all ICE activities by deducting those costs from federal allocations. The more your state resists these activities, the more your state pays, the more your citizens suffer via less monies for federally funded programs in those states.
Newb.
Every person they deport saves us $$$ every year.
Exactly.
The Wall Street Journal, eh?
The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board, a few decades ago, proposed a Constitutional amendment: “There shall be open borders.”
Looks like they haven’t changed their minds.
Great idea!
So says one of the primary voices promoting unlimited illegal immigration, H1B fraud, and globalism.
What’s a Jerimi Suri? I’ll answer that, The WSJ is not a friend of America. The Murdoch family owns it and they hate America ,Trump and us in that order. So a Jerimi Suri is by definition an enemy of ours.
Until all 20 -50 million illegals are deported than ice should have a bigger budget. It’s one of the few things the federal government should be concerned with (stopping an invasion)
My Father-in-Law (rich guy in Connecticut) prides himself on getting “balanced news”. He reads two newspapers — he reads the New York Times to get that Left-wing slant on things (he agrees with everything they say) and he also read the Wall Street Journal to get that extreme, radical Right-wing crazy slant.
I have told him that they are the same thing. He thinks I’m an idiot.
The WSJ needs the DOGE treatment
I don’t think it’s DOGE’s job to look into poor management and incompetent behavior.
I don’t think ICE needs to be mended either. Is it perfect, no, it’s government, far from perfect. Stop letting the left dictate the narrative-two morons were in places they shouldn’t have been, committing crimes they shouldn’t’ have been committing. They are now accountable for their actions.
A few decades ago, that strategy was popular and seemed reasonable.
I always found it a bit suspicious ...
Today ... ANYTHING out of legacy Big Media must be presumed Left-wing Communist propaganda shot through with lies, half-truths, and distortions of the truth. This includes the Wall Street Urinal.
Too bad your FIL is stuck in 1986 ...
For the problem/issues they are dealing with, given their magnitude and scope, and deliberate prolonged neglect (and outright FOSTERING), I don’t think its too big.
Now they are pro Doge? Get the heck outta here WSJ.
