Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem isn't having it from Democrat lawmakers who wish to further inflame rising tensions in the wake of the shooting death of far-left agitator Renee Nicole Good last Wednesday in Minneapolis. A day after the shooting, Noem quietly updated DHS's policy, which will now require Members of Congress to submit visit requests at least one week prior to the intended visit date.
The move by Noem comes after a December decision by U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb, a Joe Biden appointee, that blocked a previous DHS directive requiring a one-week notice of congressional visits to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities. It's a bit nuanced, but it looks like Noem is able to sidestep Cobb's order by using funds from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).
In issuing the new/old guidance, Noem stated that she disagreed with Judge Cobb's finding, but intended to use funds derived from the OBBBA that are not subject to limitations cited by the judge in her ruling. DHS will use the OBBBA-derived funds to "ensure adequate protection for Members of Congress, congressional staff, detainees, and ICE employees alike."

In a memo to acting ICE director Todd Lyons, Noem wrote that the policy is necessary to blunt "an increasing trend of replacing legitimate oversight activities with circus-like publicity stunts, all of which creates a chaotic environment with heightened emotions." She didn't mention Democrats by name, but we all know who thrives on the "heightened emotions" of illegals being removed from the country.
On Saturday, three House Democrats from Minnesota – Reps. Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Angie Craig (MN-02), and Kelly Morrison (MN-03) – tried to get into a detention facility in the Whipple federal building in Minneapolis and were summarily turned away, leading Omar to whine on X, "Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained."

That's fine, and they can now submit that request with seven days' notice. Members of Congress, much to the disdain of the Left, do not have the right to show up unannounced and whip their low-IQ foot soldiers into a frenzy, thus putting lives at risk because they cannot or will not keep their emotions in check.
It bears pointing out, as Secretary Noem did Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, that the detainees for whom Democrats are willing to have people killed are the worst of the worst: murderers, rapists, and child predators.

The DOJ is launching a civil rights probe iagainst the ICE agent, coordinating with the local courts under their federal and democrat NGO thumb.

It is not a "civil right" probe...FBI is doing the use of force review for US Attorney in Minnesota...DOJ never accused the ICE agent of violating the dead woman's civil rights...FBI will conduct the investigation and could recommend that the ICE agent not be prosecuted...The US Attorney will make the final decision...
FBI refused to work with Minnesota investigators...Mayor Frey and Governor Walz complained about that...FBI will not complete the report together with Minnesota investigators...Local DA stated that she will do her "own" investigation...
