Two men were killed and another was injured in a New Year’s Day shooting in Philadelphia.

The incident occurred at about 11:13 a.m. Thursday along the 7100 block of Oakland Street.

Philadelphia police told NBC10 that one man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Another was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle but was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m.

A third man is currently hospitalized but his condition is unknown at this time.

According to 6ABC, the shooting started as the result of an argument. All of the parties involved knew each other and one of the victim’s stepdaughters was knocked unconcious before the gunfire began.

Bullets hit a nearby parked car and the living room of a nearby home.

“We heard what initially sounded like fireworks, and then realized it was gunshots, and we heard a bunch of screaming to get help, somebody call 911,” a neighor, Amy Smith, said to 6ABC. “And I looked out my window and it was just extreme chaos.”

Police are investigating the incident but there is no word on if anyone has been charged yet.

Motherly Love

Motherly love
Motherly love
Forget about the brotherly and other-ly love
Motherly love is just the thing for you
You know your Mother’s gonna love ya
‘Til you don’t know what to do.

Two killed and one injured.

That is much higher than the rate in most Chicago and New York incidents.

Such as “police believe at least 40 rounds were fired. One man is in the hospital now.”

Ben has been a little squeamish about the bris. Totally understandable.

My family had been Philadelphia residents from 1739 until 1994. From 1984 to 1997, nine families living in homes that belonged to generations, all left for Florida, Tennessee, Arizona (rural desert), Delaware, and South Carolina.

We just couldn't take it anymore. My wife's family is currently aligning for the same sort of exodus. They are like five times the size of my family.

...and the living room of a nearby home.

Penetration however slight justifies return fire.

The libs will call this a “mass shooting”.

Most of their lists have a threshold of 4 injured or killed. The Gun Violence Archive already has three Mass Shootings on January 1st, one each in Houston and Dallas, TX, and Jackson, MS. They like to run up the numbers, but only want to talk about very specific shootings. The stories didn't make national news, despite one victim being an up-and-coming rapper. They will just keep silently adding these hood shootings to their list, then run a big national media story when they get one with a white perp, referring back to their database.

I lived in Philly in my college days (Center City) and loved it. Frank Rizzo was mayor then, {creak!} so while there was big city crime, it was actually pretty chill.

I haven’t been back to visit since the early 90s and it really appears to have gone WAY downhill. I hate to see that - if really was a cool city in the 70s and 80s.
