President Donald Trump doubled down on a statement he issued on social media in response to actor-director Rob Reiner’s death, pointing out that he “wasn’t a fan of his at all.”
While taking questions from the press on Monday, Trump was asked about a Truth Social post he made in which he stated Reiner had a “crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” Trump’s post came after the news broke that Reiner — who directed The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally, and his wife, Michele, were found dead inside their Brentwood home.
“Mr. President, a number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Truth Social after the murder of Rob Reiner, do you stand by that post?” a reporter asked.
“Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all,” Trump responded. “He was a deranged person, as far as Trump is concerned. He said — he knew it was false, in fact it’s the exact opposite — that I was a friend of Russia, controlled by Russia. The Russia Hoax — he was one of the people behind it. I think he hurt himself career-wise.”
In September 2017, Rob Reiner joined forces with Barack Obama government alumni, left-wing journalists, and other Trump critics to launch the Committee to Investigate Russia, a “nonprofit, non-partisan resource provided to help Americans recognize and understand the gravity of Russia’s continuing attacks on our democracy,” the group’s website reads. Reiner spent years spreading falsehoods about Trump and his 2016 presidential campaign, repeatedly alleging unproven ties the Kremlin.
Trump went on to accuse Reiner of becoming “deranged” with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and reiterated that he was “not a fan of Rob Reiner at all.”

Although I wouldn’t have said what Trump said, it would be even worse had he apologized for it. Never apologize.

One can take offense at things that Trump says while still supporting his presidency.
Can’t say I wouldn’t do the same if somebody tried to put me away for life on Trumped up charges...
I won’t lose any sleep over it.
So he strikes out once in awhile. Even Ohtani strikes out, too.
It’s important to note that Trump didn’t celebrate Reiner’s murder like those disgusting people did when Kirk was murdered. He used it as a cautionary tale to warn people of the dangers of TDS.
I don’t understand crucifying the dead. We have plenty of folk who out-Reinered Reiner, who are still above ground and breathing. But everyone on the right is leaving them alone.
I do think it was awkwardly worded, though. And I think it would have been better had he waited a few days, at least until more of the facts about what happened came in.
But Reiner was a pretty big name, maybe the biggest TDSer of them all.

He wanted Drag Queens talking to first graders.
He wanted to defund the Police, leaving Victims at the mercy of the criminals.
He had walls and Gates and the Police couldn’t even gain access, yet he was for open borders.
He has two Mansions in California alone, yet he’s a global warming zealot and wants higher taxes for working people.
He promoted all the Lies about Trump, and he pursued his Hateful obsession to the detriment of his family.
I don’t remember Reiner holding back on his feelings for Trump and/or apologizing.

No one ever asks the question, “Why would Russia support someone for the presidency of the United States who is ‘drill baby drill’ when the only export of note for Russia is oil and natural gas?”
For those of you in Rio Linda, as Rush would say, a president who is “drill baby, drill” would greatly increase the amount of oil and natural gas on the market, driving down the worldwide price and decreasing Russian revenues by a large margin?
These lefties never mention that.

President Trump should be focusing on retaining the House of Representatives not this side show. He’s just feeding the Trump Hater news media.
