President Trump Delivers Progress on Lowering Costs — With Much More Relief on the Way
Whitehouse.gov ^ | December 9, 2025 | The Whitehouse

Since taking office, President Donald J. Trump has made substantial progress reversing the inflation and cost-of-living disaster he inherited from the recklessness of the Biden Administration. Inflation has been cut by more than half, gas prices have fallen sharply, real wages are growing again, and key household expenses are finally heading in the right direction.

But President Trump is also clear: there is still important work ahead to ensure every American feels the full benefit of lower costs. While Democrats attempt to con Americans into believing they’re the champions of affordability, the reality is that Democrats created the problem — and President Trump is stopping at nothing to fix it.

On inflation

President Trump tamed Biden’s inflation crisis — and is working to bring it down further.

On wages…

Under President Trump, Americans have made real wage gains — and work continues on reversing the damage they suffered under Biden.

On gas prices…

Americans are spending less on gas than they have in years — and this is only the beginning.

On housing costs…

Housing affordability is finally trending in the right direction.

On grocery prices…

Prices for everyday staples are starting to see price declines — and there’s much more to come.

On everything else…

The Trump Administration’s whole-of-government effort will continue driving prices down, boosting take-home pay, and strengthening the economy so all Americans can feel relief.

The Trump Administration will not rest until the high prices that resulted from Democrat policies are fully reined in. We’re making progress — and the best is yet to come.

wages aren’t going up unless your a teacher with guaranteed 8% annual increases. That’s why they use the term “real” (inflation adjusted) wages, because they can only rely on inflation coming down to say real wages are up.

Do you recognize just how ridiculous your claim looks from a logical perspective?

There are not enough teachers in the USA to move the average wage up 4% or an average of $700 per person.

You just have to post something negative to try and throw cold water on positive Trump accomplishments.

More Winning! and I VOTED FOR THIS!

Americans’ real wages have grown by nearly 4%

Because inflation dropped from 8% to 4%.

He has said he wants to make sure housing prices don’t drop, and there’s no realistic hope of bridging the massive worker-wage/housing price divide without that.

In President Trump’s second term, inflation has dropped to an average of just 2.7% — the critical first step.

Democrats bang head on wall good deal.

And the price of gas here in South Kootenai county dropped by 30 cents in the last two weeks alone.

“housing”

I live in a concrete block house.

The front wall is 48 feet long, the longest side wall is 32 feet long.

The walls are 160 feet long.

An 8”x8”x16” concrete block was $2.17 at Lowe’s when I checked about a month ago.

My Florida house would be built on a slab with poured footings nowadays.

That means stacking those blocks 12 high for 8’-foot ceilings.

To run 16” blocks 120 feet means 90 of them.

Leaving out windows which are more costly than blocks, that would mean 12x90 blocks or 1,110 blocks which at $2.17 each would cost $2,387 for concrete blocks to build Casa Griffin.

[That leaves out reinforcing rods and concrete fill for anti-hurricane strength and termite blockage.]

“housing”

Casa Griffin is L-shaped and its front wall is 48 feet long and its longest side wall is 32 feet long and the shortest side wall is about 27-feet long.

Its slab areas are a 10’x10’ lanai slab plus the main slab of 48’x32’[1,532 sq. ft.] less roughly 34’x5’[170 sq. ft.], with the garage being on a lower slab, for a total of 1,452 sq. ft., for about 18 cu. yds. of concrete 4” deep.

Adding in concrete of about 1.5 cu. ft./linear foot to form a footing for what would be the main slab would add about 240 cu. ft.

Adding in concrete of about .75 cu. ft./linear foot to form a footing for what would be the lanai slab would add about 30 cu. ft.

Together, the slab concrete if Casa Griffin was to be built in 2025 would be about 28 cu. yds.

To add in footing concrete for a lower garage slab would add about 60 cu. ft., for about 30 cu. yds.

To fill an 8”x8”x16” concrete block would take about 1/3th of a cubic foot of concrete. To fill 1,110 of them would take about 370 cu. ft. or about 14 cu. yds.

That’s about 44 cu. yds. of concrete to build Casa Griffin. At $180 per cu. yd., the concrete would come to $7,920.

Its driveway is 10 feet wide and 60 feet long. Its sidewalk is 3 feet wide and 25 feet long. At 4” thick, that would come to 8⅓ cu. yds. of concrete and about $1,500.

The cost of the concrete would sum to about $9,420.

That would not include the webs, reinforcing bars or their supports.

The GOP needs to hammer the housing costs are a direct result of the illegal alien, and legal alien invasion. But that’s a tough message to pass off when all the democrats are going to say TRUMPS FAULT.

Groceries have definitely come down in the PNW. I just ordered aluminum and the price has stabilized.

There have been a couple of mentions of it—I think from Vance, Miller and Scott Turner—but until Trump really goes mass on deportations such observations are useless.

in 2025 Wages/Earned income has gone up for those already making more than $100,000 per year. In real terms it has gone down for those making under $50,000 per year.

EPA, FHA and Federal, state and local regulations have made the cost of housing extremely high. To reduce the cost of housing, much more needs to be done to remove government nanny state regulations...including by state and local government in red areas. For homebuyers to get FHA/GNMA/FNMA money State and local government are required to be consistent with Federal regulations. The whole housing system needs DOGE.

Federal regulation of cars makes them much more expensive for the working class that needs to get to work. The manufacturing sector (of which cars is just part) needs DOGE on steroids.
