Who would have thunk it? We now have two democratic socialists who have won their mayoral races in major American cities – Zohran Mamdani in New York City, of course, and inexperienced Katie Wilson in Seattle. Both cities have already suffered greatly at the hands of “progressive” politicians, and the only question here is how much lower they can sink.
Could Los Angeles be the next to throw their city into the hands of radical leftists? You could argue that they already have with Mayor Karen Bass and their radical city council and county Board of Supervisors, but what if they took it a step further?
Now they’ll get their chance, as community organizer Rae Huang is tossing her hat into the ring to challenge Bass, a Democrat who was in Ghana – despite warnings of dangerous fire conditions – when the massive January blazes that wiped out huge swaths of the city broke out. Since then, little rebuilding has been accomplished under her tenure.
But here comes Huang:
I am excited and very humbled to announce that I am running for Mayor of Los Angeles, the second largest city in our nation. Join our launch celebration,

Like Mamdani and Wilson, Huang is offering lots of “free” things:
"I am excited and very humbled to announce that I am running for Mayor of Los Angeles, the second largest city in our nation," Huang wrote on her Instagram account Saturday. "After over 20 years of leaning into my call to serve God through social justice work and organizing, this path has led me in these uncertain times to take the unusual path to continue my calling by running for Mayor to finally see through the changes the LA social justice movement and I have been building for years."
The 43-year-old community organizer and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member wrote that her campaign will focus on universal housing, free transportation, climate resiliency and affordability, issues that resemble New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's initial campaign.

The Los Angeles Times is calling her “virtually unknown” and a “long shot” to win. In the past, I’d have agreed and said she didn’t have a snowball’s chance in a furnace, but that was before Seattle and NYC lost their collective minds and elected socialists to run their failing metropolises. And even if Huang doesn’t win, she could make life more difficult for the ineffective Bass:
Still, Huang could complicate Bass’ reelection bid by playing a spoiler role, pulling away left-of-center voters in a year when the incumbent is facing criticism over her handling of the Palisades fire, a struggling city budget and less-than-optimal public services.
Bass already has a challenger in former Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Austin Beutner, who has assailed her record in each of those areas. And it’s still not clear whether billionaire developer Rick Caruso, who lost to Bass in 2022, will jump in the race.
In addition, several DSA city council candidates have already managed to win office, and DSA-LA is working hard to get more and more candidates on ballots in the future. As I said in my article about Seattle’s Katie Wilson, “What could go wrong?”
Perhaps a better question is, "What could go right?"
I was certain that Mayor Bass WAS an out and proud Socialist. Especially, when she seemed to be ‘jess fine!’ with all the homes lost to fires, and when she rejected Trump’s request to be allowed to send National Guard in to help manage the lawlessness. That’s what most progressives seem to prefer. Ongoing chaos, homelessness and dystopia, as with Chicago.
Karen Bass is a Castro Communist.
Karen Bass at least never suggested defunding the police even as a Congresswoman during the height of the BLM riots.
Unfortunately she did defund Fire Dept, does not care to co-operate with ICE, and CA as a whole has laws on the books restricting police from doing their job. So open drug use at a homeless encampments strewn across town continues to be a common sighting…
So, we're gonna give white people the free stuff that we're already giving for free to the underclass? Like groceries, healthcare, housing, stipends, and college?
I guess you can't really blame them for asking...
As long as the Fed.gov debt, money-printing, and spending machine continues, you’ll see ever-more socialists.
And immediately after the “Democrat Socialists” will come the “Kill ‘em all” Marxists.
Bass is not a socialist. She is a communist trained in Cuba.
Lenin/Stalin commie vs. Maoist commie. This is getting entertaining. Bolshevik vs. Menshovik. Commies fighting each other.Toss in Islamist Jihadis, and put some billions of dollars into the mixing bowl. What a show!
They’re both Communists.
Karen Bass is a communist supporter for decades.
Anyone else would be a step up.
Yeah, so did I. Ms. Hung has a "calling" to bring free stuff to the masses. Apparently, "God" told her that this time socialism will work.
Yeah, Bass has been active with DSA since at least 1988, and DSA endorsed her.
It would be hard to get any worse than the corrupt kleptocrat Karen Bass but I guess they’re gonna’ try.
People ask, what’s wrong with California voters? But the answer is, it’s not so much the voters, it’s the democrats in power here... They cheat, they rig, and they steal elections.
You are not a long shot to win when George Soros and other anti-American commie billionaires pour money into your campaign. They are going to push Huang over the finish line.
Just as elsewhere, 80% of women under 40 are going to fall commie promises of free everything hook, line and sinker.
All true but it is still very much the voters as well. There are over twice as many registered Democrats as there are registered Republicans. Especially so as more conservatives are leaving the state every day and taking their GOP votes with them.
Now EVERYONE’S houses will burn down!
From the last LA mayoral...
“...The contest was a virtual dead heat on Election Night. Caruso pulled slightly ahead last Thursday, but since then Bass gained a steady lead...”
Thought they already had one. The Governor is.
Her likeness could be used to make a new Troll Doll.
