Donald Trump TEARS DOWN part of the White House to make way for his new golden ballroom

The White House's East Wing was being demolished on Monday to make way for President Donald Trump's gilded $250 million ballroom.

Daily Mail photos showed a backhoe ripping into the once-pristine structure that has formed part of the White House complex for more than a century.

Banging and crashing were heard throughout the area, as clusters of staffers and journalists watched construction equipment tear lumps out of the walls.

When the ballroom project was originally announced, the president and White House officials suggested that at least a portion of the East Wing would stay intact.

'It won't interfere with the current building,' the president said at the time. 'It'll be near it, but not touching it and pays total respect to the existing building, which I'm the biggest fan of. It's my favorite.'

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked point-blank if the East Wing would be demolished when the plans were rolled out.

She said the 'necessary construction will take place' and the East Wing will be 'modernized.'

Trump announced in July plans to build a grand, 25,000 square feet ballroom to accommodate state dinners and other formal events.

Renderings show a lavish design - crystal chandeliers, gilded columns and gold inlays - reflecting the opulent aesthetic of the president's Mar-a-Lago resort.

The new ballroom is supposed to be privately funded, with Trump chipping in himself.

Donors include Silicon Valley titans, Apple and Google, defense behemoth Lockheed Martin, and telecom provider, T-Mobile.

It makes sense, it’s difficult for a President to move around to events, this will be far safer.

The Old Post Office in DC is a magnificent example.

And they were going to demolish it.

Sigh, get a life, Daily Mail. You folks better start memorizing the Koran and burka-ing your slave women, lest you be beheaded.

If the President wants to engage in self gratification he has many properties around the world on which to do so. This isnt a flagpole or a new garden. This is a major change in the POTUS’ residence.it’s not turninga basement swimming pool into a bowling alley or a projection theater. And it’s not his house. It’s his temporary residence. And if he’s trolling those No Kings people there are a lot of cheaper and more meaningful ways to do it.

Ridiculous that they have to put up big tents for the big events

How much does that cost each time?

Has anyone seen an artist picture of what it will look like (from the outside) once completed? I have only seen the interior pictures. As long as it is complimentary to the White House, I dont see the problem.

Stolen elections have consequences.

The entire White House could be demolished by now if it wasn’t for Trump telling millions in 2021 to wait and vote in 2024.

Privately funded with Trump paying part himself. Let that sink in. What other president pays out of his own pocket for government renovations? Yet most news sources breeze right past this fact.

Didn’t these limey bastards burn the White House down in 1814? You’d think they’d be happier...

I love it!

Classical lines, romanesque arches, corinthian columns. Mostly white, touches of gold, masses of glass to open the area. It will be pure magic for either dinners or balls. And it will feel right to the Europeans used to the majesty of older, classical architecture.

The presidency is SUPPOSED to awe visitors with the power of our country. This will.
