Preschoolers with LGBTQ parents or who identify as LGBTQ can't be shut out of religious preschools that are part of Colorado's state-funded preschool program, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.
The decision, which upholds a key part of a lower court decision, represents a major win for the state and a defeat for the two Denver-area Catholic preschools at the center of the case.
Tuesday's decision provides the latest answer to a question being asked in several cases percolating in state and federal courts: Can private religious schools that accept public education dollars refuse to enroll certain kids based on religious principles?

Lower courts doing what lower courts do.
Teach them Christ and the Bible as far as possible every day. Make the parents have to fight it every day. Just like religious parents have to deal with the lies that the public schools teach.

And therein is the problem. Take the money, and you must take the chains that go with it.
It’s a fair argument to say folks who send their kids to private schools pay state taxes, too. But rational arguments will gain no ground with liberals.
Do you think it would be any different if they weren’t taking that money? I don’t know for a fact they were. But that Christian baker was not taking any money from the government.
The baker eventually won, but that is a different issue, the process was the punishment.
Preschool LGBTQ I do understand,
I’m a woman When was a preschooler, my mother hated me and my dad loved me very much,. I spent as much time with him as I could, clomped around in his shoes, put on his hat on. Dad and I laughed about that. And my mother told meI was going to hell for that...and everything else.
It wasn’t until puberty that I enjoyed being a girl.

That’s a great question. I assume those Catholic schools have state accreditation. So that’s another line of attack “progressives” could take. If you want state accreditation, you must follow state guidelines.
It’s disgusting. If a parent does not agree with the doctrine of a religious school, don’t expect that school to bend to your will. Go somewhere else.
Side note: I do have a problem with private schools taking tax money in the first place. I get that parents who send their kids to such schools pay taxes, too.
But I sure don’t want my tax dollars to be funding some radical Muslim school. You really can’t have one without the other.
“...LGBTQ parents...”
Homosexuals should NEVER be allowed to be alone with children. Never.
Maybe you were a tomboy.
I used to do the same thing with my dad’s shoes/boots and Stetson.
As well as with my mom’s shoes, slips, jewelry, etc.
Sorry to hear that, about your mom. PTL for your dear dad.
Don’t take the ‘effing state funds. THE END.
Agree.
Would be nice if these private school parents could get a tax break ... but, I like dreamin’.
Solution - Shut the school
I think I see the problem.
I went to a Catholic school in 7th grade only. There was an Indian kid in our class, who definitely wasn’t Christian, but I guess his parents thought it was the best education. I’ve seen parents who aren’t Catholics to pick Catholic schools.
Headed to SCOTUS. It will be overturned.
Why are the Catholics accepting state funding?
The key reason for the ruling is likely this,”LGBTQ ... can’t be shut out of religious preschools that are part of Colorado’s state-funded preschool program...”
Colorado can’t block the religious preschools from applying for and receiving the funding (based on previous SCOTUS rulings). The state however can require that all schools receiving the funding all meet the same state requirements which includes admitting children whose parents are gay.
The school should find another funding source if they want to only admit preschoolers whose families reflect the values they want to teach at the school. That is their right.
Nope. It won’t go there. There is no reason to overturn it.
