US President Donald Trump says he will issue an executive order to require voter identification from every voter.
“Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!!” Trump says on Truth Social.
“Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military,” he adds.

Trump has long questioned the US electoral system and continues to falsely claim that his 2020 loss to Democrat Joe Biden was the result of widespread fraud. The president and his Republican allies also have made baseless claims about widespread voting by non-citizens, which is illegal and rarely occurs.
I hope a bunch of judges don’t block the reforms.
ID - yes.
Photo ID - absolutely no.
Trump would not want to disenfranchise the Amish whose votes TWICE put him into the White House.
(Ohio has solved the “plain sect” voter ID issue very well)
Elections are run by the states,
not by the federal government.
It wouldn't really be reform, it's more like a reversion to sanity. Technically, electronic and mail-in voting was the innovation, a type of reform never approved by voters.
You're right that activist judges and lawafre operations pose a danger to this effort to ensure election integrity.
Voter ID should absolutely be required to vote..but its also a double edged sword because in many states including Commiefornia, illegals get drivers licenses, so technically by having Voter ID, they can say “cool so I can vote then I have an ID”
I called my congressman’s office a few days ago and asked about this. Never heard back. Will see if they call me tomorrow.
Takes forever to get a birth certificate, already applied for one last week.Born in Pennsylvania, left when I was two weeks old, never been back. Actually born during, but not at, the Republican National Convention. Went to Dem national convention in Chicago when I was 18 and to Republican national convention in Chicago four years later. Both as photographer’s assistants. They shot pictures, I got names. And had incredible look at politics in the almost raw.
Trump is merely drawing attention to the issue.
They don’t even bother with an ID where I live.
It shouldn’t take you long to get a birth certificate from PA. We had to get one for my husband for ‘real ID’ and it came pretty quickly.
For the most part, yes, but at it happens there are some federal election laws such as the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and others which presumably draw their authority from the 14th Amendment or some such.
per google AI (exerpt)...
Q) can the federal government set rules for states in national elections?
A) Yes, the federal government can set rules for states in national elections, as established by the U.S. Constitution’s Elections Clause. This constitutional provision gives Congress the ultimate authority to “make or alter” regulations for the “Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives”
Continues with legal details and examples.
But they don’t have U.S. Passports.
A U.S. Passport is the only form of identification that proves a person is a citizen.
Require valid passports.
Good ol’ Reuters.
But what does Trump claim gives him this power?
I don’t think a driver’s license comes close to being proof of citizenship.
If the order applies to the US Postal Service for mail in ballots, this could be upheld in court, but otherwise it’s not likely to stand.
Thanks for info. What’s a “real; ID”:?
When I got my first drivers license in California, I had to bring my birth certificate. When my son got his license, he had to show his birth certificate. Our birth certificates show that we are US citizens.
If drivers licenses are done correctly, they are only given to citizens. It is the states that give them to illegals that make drivers licenses questionable.
“Papers Please”
The federally standardized requirements for getting a driver’s license or official ID. We had to go to the MVA with all sorts of documents to prove who we are. I thought it was in force for all the states by now:
