As you may recall, Candace Owens ran a series of podcasts earlier this year in which she claimed the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, was actually a trans woman. A couple weeks ago, the Macrons sued Owens in a US court, seeking damages for 22 separate counts of defamation. There's no dollar amount in the complaint but it's presumably going to run into six or seven figures.
For the record, Owens doesn't deny that there was a person named Brigitte Trogneux who was born a woman. Her story is that at some point, for unknown reasons, Brigitte disappeared and her identity was taken over by another person, her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux who then married Emmanuel Macron.
So now, according to Candace Owens, Brigitte Macron was born a woman, died, and with her dying wish passed on her identity to her brother.
There's no way anyone still believes this crap right?

There are really two big problems with Owens's theory. First, Jean-Michel Trogneux is still around and has been seen at public events including Macron's inauguration. The other is that Brigitte was previously married and had three children with her first husband. Obviously a trans person can't have children so you have to somehow extend the conspiracy theory to the idea that the kids either aren't really Brigitte's children or that they know their real mom is dead and are pretending their uncle is their mother. It's pretty far out there.
And yet, Owens is still doubling down on this whole story. She appeared on Piers Morgan's show the other day and said she was willing to up a previous bet with Morgan to $300,000.

That's quite a lot of money but it's still probably only a fraction of what's on the line in the lawsuit itself. And that may be why Owens is now wondering aloud why the Trump administration is not speaking up and trying to defend her from the lawsuit.
"If you are Trump, the first thing you should have done if you purport to care about America and our Constitution...you would come out and you would say 'I don't even know whether I believe that she's a man or a woman'...but you should say 'I'm a leader of this country and it's unacceptable that this leader would threaten the First Amendment in anyway,'" Owens said. She added, "The job of the federal government is to defend us against foreign invaders and I would pretty much say Emmanuel Macron right now is being a foreign invader."

She mentions that President Trump called and tried to warn her off this story. Here's what she told Tucker Carlson.
Owens said the initial request to stop talking about the French first lady came from someone “pretty high up” in the White House. She said she found the demand insulting and refused to comply.
Trump later phoned Owens directly about the issue, she told Carlson, saying that the president told her Macron had pulled him aside to ask if he knew Owens. Owens said she was shocked by the request and stated that Trump had been confused as to why he was being asked to intervene.
“Emmanuel Macron personally flew to D.C. and asked Trump to ask me to shut up, to just stop speaking about his wife,” she told Carlson.
That's evidence that Macron was unhappy about it but not evidence he's lying about his wife. If Owens is in fact spreading a lie about Brigitte Macron, as the lawsuit claims, then it's not surprising Emmanuel Macron would make efforts to get her to stop.
As for the "foreign invasion" claim, It probably goes without saying that defamation is a well-understood and widely acknowledged exception to free speech. Owens is being sued for allegedly making false and defamatory claims which, according to the complaint, she knew were false at the time.
As I said in my previous post, that's going to be a high bar for statements about a public figure like Brigitte Macron, but that doesn't mean some of the claims won't pass that bar. And if they do, that's not a foreign invasion or any kind of violation of US sovereignty, it's just the application of US defamation law to Candace Owens.

When Trump won in 2016, a small but notable change in how people got their news and information transpired. In reality, it was a long time coming; in some ways it started with Drudge and Clinton.
With Bannon leaving Breitbart and Trump winning, a new generation of people pivoted from the MSM to “alternative media.” New careers - and new listeners - arose for people like Milo Yianapolis, Steven Crowder, Breitbart, FR, Fox, and so on. The pandemic- to a great extent- fueled the growth in alternative media when it was clear that the MSM and Social Media were shilling for statism.
Along the way, however, some of the “new media” just lost their mind. I think, to some degree, these personalities confused freedom with No Rules. God gave us rules, and they are eternal. We have seen what happens when people become decoupled from morality.
With this confusion, we saw lots of new media fall…Milo was the most spectacular (though he clearly had issues for the get-go). But Fox dropped lots of hosts and became unwatchable, new outlets like Gateway Pundit started pushing sensationalism, Steven Crowder lost his audience with his abhorrent behavior, and more.
With this “freedom” people started saying whatever they wanted without sufficient reflection. We see it on FR, too…many people have raised the issue of name-calling, blatant bigotry, outright anti-semitism, and wishing murder and death on people. Parenthetically, many of the right-wing “new media” sources like Slay News are utter toilets. Basic fact-checking is nowhere most of the time.
Now, the left has ALWAYS been creepy with its bigotry, fascism, and murder-wishing. But they don’t have God.
The latest “thing” is “anti-Zionism” which, in many cases, is just good old-fashioned Joe Sobran-like anti-semitism but with prettier faces and better PR. Candace, Tucker, et al are the standard-bearers. Separately, many folks got consumed with the whole Russia-Ukraine thing and have become cheerleaders for Putin or Zelinsky. Indeed, these food fights on FR have sort of replaced the Religion food fights.

Trump is not defending her or involved at all because this is her priority, not his.
When it all boils down, I don’t care who Macron is married to or sleeping with. It just doesn’t matter.
Can you imagine what FR would have been like around 1939 or 1940?
Everybody would be calling each other one of, “Hitler Lover”, “Limey Lover”, “Jew Lover”, “Stalin Lover”, or, worst of all, “FDR Lover”.
Candace’s background is sus, in my opinion, and seems like a leftist plant. Trump has had nothing to do with her this go ‘round, and she’s ticked. She’s a rabid racist anti-Semite and really, not that bright.
Trump knows she does not have true qualifications and is just a talking head. He’s not letting those types near his administration this time.

The only thing that concerns me is coming to the realization that someone who does not show integrity in their personal life cannot be trusted to show integrity in their public life or business or political dealings.
Yes, I had to block her after a few sessions of hearing her rant about the Jews. It is disgusting on so many levels. She engaged in an academic exercise in spinning lies and the bully pulpit to disparage Jewsj, going to so far as to wear a narrative that the Jews are no longer Jews, but Europeans. Of course this anti-Jewish rant about them being FAKE JEWS is part of the vile Christian extremist wing claims that because the jews no longer exist that only those who follow Jesus can be God’s People. I had be shocked when a good friend and Amry Chaplain tell me this FAKE JEW Story as well.
As a Christian I can not justify stealing God from the Jews on any grounds, that according to their religion as I understand Judiasm from two years in Isreal that for the Jews Jesus does not meet their requirements for their coming Messiah.

You’re giving her far too much credit for intelligence and ability.
As someone else has said, she thinks she’s the smartest person in the room, and also thinks she can do whatever she wants. She uses sensationalism to build her ‘brand’ and will say just about anything for clicks and views.
I don’t think she believes in anything at all except herself.
The interview Candace did with Tucker was entertaining and enlightening. She brought up a couple of excellent points:
1. Why on earth is the president of France asking the president of the US to silence a journalist? And apparently Trump did call Candace to discuss this case, though he did not silence her—because this is America.
2. Far from appearing “panicked”, Candace seemed eager for the French suit to proceed. She said she was looking forward to discovery.
3. Even assuming that Brigitte is a woman after all, it seems that she began her relationship with Macron when he was 14 — and she was in her 30s or 40s. The relationship is far from normal.
