Saudi FM: No ties with Israel without Palestinian statehood

Saudi Arabia will not pursue normalization with Israel absent the creation of a Palestinian state, the kingdom’s top diplomat said on Monday, according to Bloomberg.

Speaking at a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot at the United Nations, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan declared that normalization “can only come through the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

“That position remains the same, and it is based on a strong conviction that only through the establishment of a Palestinian state and only through addressing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination can we have sustainable peace and real integration in the region,” he stated.

Saudi officials have long stated that a Palestinian state would be a condition for Saudi Arabia to normalize ties with Israel.

The fastest way for that war to end would be for the people in Gaza get their act together and start putting the beginnings of a stable government in place.

There is a number of countries that would recognize a Palestinian state, but not one that is effectively run by war lords without any plan for stability.

Agreed. And Jordan is the other state in the original "two-state solution". Jordan has 3 times the land mass as Israel, and is 95% Arab.

The IDF published footage on Tuesday showing Hamas terrorists looting humanitarian aid in Gaza amid debunked claims of a deliberate starvation campaign in Gaza.

In the footage filmed on July 25, 2025, armed Hamas terrorists are seen violently looting humanitarian aid that had been transferred into the Gaza Strip, preventing it from reaching the civilian population of Gaza.

According to the IDF, contrary to Hamas’ false claims that the individuals in the video are security personnel, they are in fact Hamas terrorists who arrived to seize the aid from Gaza’s residents.

“Even when aid is delivered into Gaza - Hamas loots it for its own use, blatantly disregarding the needs of the population,” the IDF stated.

Palestine needs something like forty years of occupation by a benevolent country, so it can develop into a democratic republic under a constitution. A state-hood of criminals, like so much of the world, hasn’t done the Palestinian people any good; nor, any other people. We were mislead by the success we enjoyed in Germany and Japan following WWII. Converting people into citizens of a democratic republic is actually a tough job. Contrast the failure of just about every African country following the end of the colonial period; and, our failures in Iraq and Afghanistan. What we in the country, among a precious few in the world, is precious and worth defending.
