In a shocking new development, President Donald Trump’s longtime political adversary, Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), is facing criminal prosecution after a bombshell referral from the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) over alleged mortgage fraud spanning years.
The FHFA has formally alerted the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the evidence, triggering an investigation into Schiff’s actions following a series of mortgage-related allegations.
Schiff, who was elected to the Senate in 2024 after years of serving as a House lawmaker, is under intense scrutiny after Trump announced the charges earlier this week.
It was revealed that between 2003 and 2019, Schiff may have falsified documents related to his Maryland-based property to secure more favorable loan terms.
The property in question is located in Potomac, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C.
According to the FHFA’s referral, Schiff allegedly manipulated bank documents and property records, a clear violation of federal housing rules.
The details of the case are particularly troubling.
Fannie Mae’s financial crimes investigations concluded earlier this week, revealing that Schiff may have engaged in “a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” across five loans.
This suggests that Schiff intentionally misrepresented his primary residence status in order to secure lower mortgage rates, potentially defrauding taxpayers and benefiting from millions in unearned financial advantages.
Trump, never one to shy away from calling out his political foes, wasted no time in blasting “scam artist” Schiff over the allegations.
On Truth Social, Trump posted, “I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist.
“And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division has concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud.”
Trump went on to highlight the gravity of Schiff’s alleged actions, stating:
“Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA.

I don’t like the little prick, but he probably did spend more time in Maryland than in DC. In that regard, I don’t know that a jury would convict him of that even though he lists his legal residence in CA. G.H.W. Bush listed his legal address in a hotel in Houston, even though he was rarely there. There could be a legal distinction between legal address and primary address. I do love Trump scoring points with this.
