A federal judge in Manhattan issued an order on June 3 preserving a previous preliminary injunction that had blocked the Department of Education from canceling extensions to states for accessing COVID-19-related funds for school districts.
School officials can be grifters too.
The $1.1 billion in unused COVID-19 relief funds earmarked for elementary and high schools across 16 states and Washington, D.C. must be given to them. The aid was originally granted under the American Rescue Plan Act to support pandemic recovery efforts such as tutoring, building upgrades, and assistance for homeless students.
Far-left U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos’ ruling blocks Education Secretary Linda McMahon from withdrawing the remaining funds while a multi-state lawsuit, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James and 15 other Democratic attorneys general and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, proceeds.
As of the lawsuit’s filing, Maryland held the largest unspent balance at $245.9 million, with New York following at $134.2 million.
It’s a nice slush fund for Democrats and their teachers’ unions.
The case, New York et al v. U.S. Department of Education et al, is being heard in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (No. 25-02990). Democrats can’t lose in Manhattan.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon had informed the states in March this year that the previously granted extensions were being rescinded because the pandemic was over and extending the deadline was no longer aligned with the department’s current priorities, although the states could reapply for extensions.
On the bright side, President Trump vowed there would be no COVID mandates. He sees the left gearing up to make it a thing once again.
I think one of the judges should order a mandatory total lockdown.
That might wake some people up to revolt against the activist judges trend.
So, is his wife or daughter a school administrator or something like that that gets to handle the funds?
Almost all of these leftist judges have family members or friends that are in on the grift, somehow.
The judge love the Slush Fund
One of the potential benefits of AI is that it could make school teachers obsolete.
That would be sweet—and save taxpayers a fortune.
What kind of government do we have? A republic or a monarchy?
Neither. We’re being run by an out-of-control judiciary.
A kritarch, where judges have deemed themselves the supreme rulers of the land.
How the heck can a District Judge in New York dictate to the federal Executive Branch how federal money is to be expended? Congress created these lower federal courts and it’s high time they rein in these usurpers of lawful Constitutional powers. A good start would be to make those judges elected or serve limited terms as well as prohibit them making national policy. Chief Justice Roberts is making a grave mistake by not allowing the SCOTUS to put an end to these clearly unconstitutional usurpations.
100% AGREE!

This “activist judges” trend reminds me of a lot of “trends” that become the new normal.
Remember when you used to buy a ticket and then get on a plane. Then there were hijackings, so it became harder. Then there was 8/11, and the security became insufferable. But we all just obeyed, and here we are in the new normal.
This is the new normal. I’m just getting used to it in good fashion. 🤣
I’m old. It means not only will I not have to put up with it that long, but an odd thing comes with “old age”: it’s easy to put up with bad stuff.
As one old woman said, people shouldn’t worry about having to live through old age. It doesn’t last that long.
BTW, I’m 71.
8/11 should have been 9/11
It will be hard to justify giving the schools the money when it remained unspent and Covid is no longer deemed dangerous to kids. But, settled law and science I guess.

What’s the scorecard on low court judges being upheld v being overruled? How many of these ruling have there been so far?
