LOS ANGELES — Mayor Karen Bass is catching heat for her claims that new homes are springing up across the Pacific Palisades just months after wildfires leveled the neighborhood.
“Karen Bass is full of crap,” Pacific Palisades resident Sara Trepanier, a physician and single mom of four who lost her home to the devastating blaze in January, told The Post Tuesday.
Trepanier’s candid words come just a day after Bass proclaimed on X that “homes are under construction throughout the Palisades,” lauding her efforts to “cut red tape” on building permits and “get families home.

Sarah Trepanier, a single mother of four who lost her Palisades home in the fire, says Mayor Bass is “full of crawl
Last I heard only 5 permits to rebuild have been issued.
The mayor only needs to get out of the way and set up a one stop shop in a gym somewhere to rapidly same day approve building permits. Insurance should be funding the building. And others without coverage have to start shagging down disaster money or loans.
The mayor doesn’t need some master plan or any other input.
Democrat.
I can’t tjnk of a good reason to rebuild on a burned out lot. Hard to sell it, of course. If she has enough money to build there, I would think she has money to build or buy elsewhere.
Yes, she can afford to rebuild. But she needs the permit! And so would whoever buys the land from her if she gives up and moves away.
That’s exactly right, people should be asking why does the Mayor need to issue an executive order in the first place in order to fast track building permits, fast tracking building permits should be the norm instead of the exception
In California and other Blue areas it takes special permission from government agencies who know nothing about construction in order to construct anything and the fires proved the government agencies failed in their efforts because the first major fire burned it all down
How THEE HELL has she managed to stay in office?!?!? After what she did???!!!!
WOW!!!
She might be a widow ... but I'm guessing she divorced her husband and got the house.
One problem is that a lot of those that got burned out in the Palisades did not have insurance - not because they didn’t want it or couldn’t pay for it, but because the state and local governments had made those lots uninsurable by any company. Many were waiting to hear if the state would accept them on the state-run “insurance of last resort”.
And to be fair to Bass (as much as I don’t want to be), even if she were to do everything you say, all of the Palisades is *also* under the jurisdiction of the California Coastal Commission, a body that has to sign off on everything within a certain distance of the coast, has to okay even putting up a few solar panels on your roof, has the unofficial stated objective of returning the coast to its original pristine condition as it was before man, and can take over seven years to approve a permit to put said solar panels on your garage in the best of times.
What’s worse than the permit - that lot is now uninsurable. She would be limited to cash buyers as no bank would finance without insurance.
“she’s pulling out all the stops”? She is draining the reservoirs again?
She got some news coverage in the fire. Turns out she’s an ER doctor and Navy vet.

A cursory search shows that she had relatively recently moved from NC to CA, possibly for employment reasons, and that she may have been married to a Daniel Trepanier, who as best I can tell passed away at age 49.
No, she’s removing the brakes from the fire engines so they’ll go faster. :P
Well...you know Democrats, they keep voting for the same types of leaders over and over again expecting that something will change but only the names change while nothing else does. Isn’t there a term for this kind of thing?

Once dems control the election apparatus, they are virtually impossible to be rid of.
CA people will never be reformed. I feel for Steve Hilton’s uphill campaign.
“...the unofficial stated objective of returning the coast to its original pristine condition...”
Would’ve thought such an unofficial objective would remain unstated.
Have they truly actually admitted this?
Not doubting you. That this is their actual goal.
That area really was burned back to the stone age.

“But I’d still vote for her...”
